About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to visit as many countries as possible, meet as many awesome people as I can, and learn all that is possible about the world and all that inhabit it and also myself!

ABOUT ME

I like to think of myself as a random concoction of interests and lifestyles that don't really seem to fit together, but somehow works for me. I'm definitely the black sheep of my nursing class. So things I enjoy, I love being outside for things like: snowboarding, snowball throwing, rolling around in snow (fully snowproofed, of course), swimming, hiking, camping, rafting, running trails, biking, laying in the sun, reading in the park, drinking beers by the river or in the park or on a patio or..just...drinking beers (GOOD beers), bbqing, sailing, beaches, forests, mountains, lakes. I love being outside for big gatherings, such as shows and festivals of all sorts, yet also crave solitude in nature. I love tons of different kinds of music and want to learn how to make my own, but so far, I'm just learning guitar and am still a bit far from that point. I like to cook but also am not "impressive" YET. I wish so badly that i was artistic. One day I'll learn to paint... I also like to read, but need to do so much more often. I love my awesome family. I love my awesome friends. I love meeting new people who get my sense of humor and make me laugh. I highly value my health and try to eat well and exercise a lot and get enough sleep and, you get the idea. I'm a mostly vegetarian. Like 99.53%. I say mostly because i choose not to be an annoying douche if someone has already purchased/prepared meat for me, I'll eat it. Damage already done at that point, I say. Reasons for doing the vegetarian thing, because everyone always asks: 1/3 because I love veggies and beans and don't really like meat 1/3 for health reasons and 1/3 for ethical reasons, but occasionally I do eat fish. I try to be as environmentally conscious as possible because I love being in the beauty of nature of all types, and well, it's our responsibility to try not to completely destroy this planet... I'm a cat person. Not all dogs are cool, but when they ARE, they can almost be cooler than cats. And that's how I feel about cats and dogs... Head's up, I wear a lot of black. This is not because it reflects the color of my heart, but because I'm lazy and it's easy to match to things. Honestly.... I also appreciate positivity and sometimes spiritual/metaphysical ideas...I need to study buddhism. Also, don't let my clothing and tattoos fool you, I mostly listen to music with acoustic guitars and lyrics all about feelings. It's only occasionally these days I get in a hardcore or metal mood. I guess I'm not quite what meets the eye, I don't really make sense, but it's kind of fun that way....so there ya go.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is what you make it, your reality is your thoughts. You are a product of your own creation. Rise out of bed as if gravity pulls you. Make it count. Don't be afraid of the future and leave the past behind you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted a couple dudes now. I won't lie, that first handshake or hug, is pretty awkward, so therefore I've decided I like to break the ice with a few beers. I'm not a huge boozer or anything, but trust me, it just works best this way. Serious. So....That's how I participate....stuff...... Oh, and I like eating food with you, including tasty ice cream treats. and bike rides. And sometimes we can float the river. So many things...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First experiences were on my 1 1/2 month long trip this past fall to Costa Rica. I loved it, and will definitely try to use couch surfing for my travels from here on out!

Interests

Well I played roller derby for the past five years, but retired a little over a year ago and am trying to now fill that void with excessive snowboarding and am attempting to learn how to skateboard for when it warms back up... just successfully completed my first year of nursing school at BSU... I picked up guitar not too long ago and am pretty stoked on that. Music's a big love of mine (as I'm sure it is for most people), but as a general rule I appreciate whatever will make me either break out in dance, bring me to tears, or give me goosebumps.
Philosophy and psychology and health science will always capture my interest. I enjoy being active especially if it involves the outdoors. I appreciate the versatility of alcohol and love trying new beers, whiskeys, and red wines. I really want to start brewing my own beer soon. I also love trying/cooking new foods. Anything to do with comedy also wins.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy any book that can make me laugh yet also make me cry, has something philosophical to say, and most importantly, can inspire me. I also like to flip through interesting non-fiction reads about philosophy, religion, health, environmentalism, etc. I mostly listen to random indie music these days, but favorite bands include Local Natives, The Antlers, the Dodos, Howlin Wolf, Sleepy Sun, Small Black, Washed Out, the Shins, Yeasayer, Joy Division, Phantogram, M83, Belle and Sebastian, The Clash, This is Hell, Comeback Kid, Have Heart, The Sword, The Beatles, Violent Femmes, The White Stripes, Swingin Utters, Defeater, The Head and the Heart, Iron and Wine, etc, etc. I rarely find time for movies these days but when I do, it's all about comedies, science fiction, and/or documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending my first Christmas away from home in Wales with my newfound friend from London, probably the raddest experience ever. Welsh people are the COOLEST!
Played a roller derby bout in London as a guest player for the London roller girls
Travelled to Germany and Prague solo and somehow didn't get abducted/murdered
Learned how to surf in Costa Rica.
Just learned how to sail, first time ever sailing with the famous Howard Rice! So that's neat... Also during this trip to Port Townsend, WA, snuck into Fort Worden state park after hours with a new sailing friend, and explored super dark and terrifying tunnels made for the military in the early 1900's for protection of the Puget Sound. Again, don't know how I haven't been killed yet...

Teach, Learn, Share

I honestly don't feel like I have, like, any skills or expertise to share haha. Maybe... just knowing where to find the good things in life. Drinking awesome beer at our local breweries, awesome coffee at local shops, good music at whatever shows are going on regularly, Enjoying the delicious food at the tons of local restaurants in Boise, hitting up the best local hang out bars, (hows about some more local stuff?), chilling by the river or at a nice lookout point etc. I like to cook, so I guess we can make good food as well..I'll be honest, I have enjoyed spending hours with a friend showing each other hilarious or just awesome shit on the internet (not going to lie, it's maybe one of my favorite things...haha), so we can do that, too! Hell, I still suck at guitar, but we can totally try to make some music. I guess ultimately, what I have to share, is laughter, and the ability to let loose and get ridiculous. WHEEEEW!
