About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discovering higher goals and aspirations for myself

ABOUT ME

As a kid girl scouts didn't fit with me, so I joined venture scouts instead (a co-ed branch of Boy Scouts of America). And that in essence is me. I am a backpacking, rock climbing, outdoor adventure girl. I also really enjoy traveling and exploring new places.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like independent and foreign films. And movies that make you think about things you normally wouldn't.

Paulo Coehlo books, especially The Alchemist, I love to read though and always love being handed a new book to read.

I like to listen to whatever music fits my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was an adventure leader at my high school for our high ropes course and we have an element called the power pole. The power pole is a forty-foot high pole that you climb up and stand on top of and it can be very shaky. Once up there you have to turn 180 degrees around to face a trapeze bar you try to jump for and grab. It's very difficult to do. In one my classes we had a special-ed kid named Joey and he decided his goal for the semester was to jump off of the power pole. When that day came his mom came out to support him and I belayed him. Joey was really scared and nervous, but his mom and I talked him up the pole. The entire class also decided to watch and support him. He stood on top of that pole for the entire class period and beyond. No one left to go to class we all stood waiting and talking him through his fear. When he finally jumped the energy on the course was amazing. Everyone was so proud of Joey. And though he missed the trapeze the smile on his face and the hug I received once he was safely on the ground has stuck in my memory.
