Overview
About Me
I'm an English writer, journalist and producer, living in Santiago de Chile, where I've been working as a journalist, making films, teaching English to bewildered Chileans, and making my way bit-by-bit through South America. I'm laid-back, friendly (and I like to think funny...) and a devoted explorer, with a love of hitchhikes, long train and bus rides, losing myself in cities, and camping on beaches. I'll be closely documenting my travels as part of a travel writing/filming project, before I head back to Europe at the end of 2015. I'm also a clean and considerate house guest. ¡Hablo español y ademas quiero seguir practicando antes de que me vaya para Europa al fin del año!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love making new friends, and I prefer to stay with people who I can get to know on a one-to-one basis, and who can offer real insight into the local culture. My party hostel days are (mostly!) behind me, and I'm looking for a more personal experience this time around. I have been the beneficiary of enough hospitality to know how invaluable a resource like Couchsurfing is; have always heard testimonies of wonderful experiences from fellow travellers; and can promise a bed in London or Chile in return. As part of my trip from Mexico - Colombia I also want to gather perspectives from people I meet along the way, and if they were willing to participate, I would like these to include contributions from my hosts.
Interests
I love books, films, photography, theatre, art, music (I'll probably be bringing a ukelele on my travels, which could be a deal-breaker I realise...), wine and good food, meeting new people, travelling of course, running, hiking, the sea...

Music, Movies, and Books
I love folk, acoustic, indie, electronica, hip hop, blues, jazz if I'm feeling sophisticated, anything from crap pop to reggaeton if I'm not. Favourite film: The Third Man, favourite book: Wuthering Heights.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last I did a 2000km solo hitchhike from the north to the south of Argentina then back to Chile, camping along the way. I accidentally didn't bring a sleeping bag. This resulted in some very cold nights in the desert and Argentinian Patagonia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am CELTA-qualified English teacher, if my hosts would like to learn or practice their English. For my part, I'd like to speak Spanish with you and learn everything you can show me about your life and the place where you live. I would love to hang out and chat, play music, meet your friends!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to cook, always happy to contribute things to eat and drink :-) as well as helping around the house in any way I can. I can share stories and art, entertain pets and kids, and generally bring buena onda.
