About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Back to school in a new city!

ABOUT ME

I'm from rural Oregon and have lived in California and Washington as well. I work in education and try to travel as often as possible. I lived in Mexico for a year in Colima in 2010 and 2011 and then on an island near Seattle in 2012 before leaving for a 9 months of travel in Europe, Nicaragua, and Peru! Now I'm back in school in Seattle.

PHILOSOPHY

The world is a beautiful place and you get what you give, so be generous.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing hosts have helped me out in many ways on my travels and even though I don't think my roommates would let me host right now, I look forward to giving back in any way I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has been a wonderful experience in several places and has made it possible for me to travel longer with less which I really appreciate. When I am tired of being a tourist it gives me more energy and enthusiasm about a place if I can engage directly with people living there.

Interests

I love learning all sorts of new skills, reading, cooking, playing with languages, and exploring. I'm also getting into outdoorsy stuff more and more.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books are some of my favorite things: I love too many to count, but at the moment am reading Carlos Fuentes and Eduardo Galeano and planning to read through all of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I really enjoyed La Mujer Habitada by Giaconda Belli and I'm looking to read more of her books. Some all time favorites include Roald Dahl, Aimee Bender, Barbara Kingsolver, Arthur Conan Doyle, Michael Chabon, Louise Erdrich,Sherman Alexie and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the monarch butterflies in Mexico in winter was easily one of the most amazing sights of my life and walking across Spain on the Camino de Santiago was one of the best things I've done for myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always glad to teach: I am up for language exchanges anytime, I would love to share cooking techniques and recipes, and I can make a great origami crane. I know enough about gardening to be useful and I'd be glad to help out in yours.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Nicaragua, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
