ABOUT ME

Hello Couchsurfers!

I'm Anna from the beautiful Northern Michigan in the USA. I went to school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor studying Environmental Science and Geology. I just returned from 7 months in South America - mostly Colombia studying, training, and practicing yoga as well as spending a brief five weeks in Peru and Bolivia. I worked on permaculture projects in the Andes, trekked down canyons and through deserts, and saw the most incredible landscapes.

I've lived (studied abroad, but… 'studied' is deceiving) in Prague, Czech Republic and Chiang Mai, Thailand too - both for 6 months. During that time I visited the surrounding countries and regions and saw amazing things that leave my mind expanded and grateful for such opportunities.

I like to travel slowly and especially love seeing smaller towns and lesser known places. I'm a nature lover and I hate wearing shoes. The other times I really enjoy cozying up with a good book, a steamy cup of tea, and wool socks.

I love to meet new people and I feel couchsurfing will provide me with exactly the type of people I strive to meet.

PHILOSOPHY

Seek and you shall find.

Find what makes you come alive and chase it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hosted once, surfed once :) More, please!

Interests

I enjoy good people, good music, and good food.

I'll gladly share my yoga practice - I've done 400 hours of training at an ashram in Colombia. Currently I'm grappling with yogic philosophy and how asana fits into it all.

Traveling, of course- to see what there is to see and to find unique experiences and adventure that is surely out there waiting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking to the top of Rendezvous Peak in the Tetons in Wyoming. 10,450 feet of pure exhilaration. Exhilaration and sweat.

55 km (~35 mile) overnight, 14 hour walk/pilgrimage to the Svaty Hora (Holy Church) in Priram, Czech Republic in the rain. Man, that is a story for a long chat over some hot coffee.

Swimming in Lake Superior regardless of it's notoriously freezing temperatures. Hands down my favorite place to be on Earth.

Hot air ballooning over the unreal sculpted volcanic ash canyons and towers of Cappadocia, Turkey at dawn before a rough landing (it's okay, they gave us champagne to ease the pain)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bolivia, Cambodia, Colombia, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia, Netherlands, Peru, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Colombia, Czech Republic, Thailand, United States
