About Me

CURRENT MISSION

after 1,5 year of travelling / emigration finding myself again at home

ABOUT ME

I try to be a good friend, actively listen to other people, instigate changes in my life (like now, I left everything behind and went abroad just to see how it is). Recently I realized I don't need much to be happy (person I love, roof above my head, bike to ride on, good book to read, sth to study in order to develop brain connections, access to the gym and nature)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to be both, a surfer and a host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Tuscany (Italy) ’12 – me and three other ragazze we stayed for a couple of nights in Piza and Bologna. Our hosts told us where to find the best pasta in town, showed us a paradise-like beach and some cool local places.

Mallorca (Spain) ’13 – me&Tom visited Palma de Mallorca. Our host - Miguel was a fantastic soul mate and suggested us the best 7-day travel plan around the island. The greatest guidebook would never let us discover the hidden treasures, encourage us to eat local specialties in the suburbs of Palma or climb the highest peak of the island.

Krakow (Poland) – we had various guest at home. My partner Tom is an active CS user a way longer than me. Time and attention of a friendly human being that lives in the area you’re visiting is the best what you can get. I experienced it from my hosts and I try to give the same when hosting.

Haarlem (Netherlands) ’14 – our friend and one-night host Ralph made us feel at home when we were in a transition period. We all met in an elevator, he helped us and we helped him later:)

Las Vegas (Nevada) ’14 – our host David spoke surprisingly good polish(!), gave us must-see list what has to be seen on the Strip and made our first American CS experience totally great.

Denver (Colorado) ’14 – Bon hosted us for one night. We were thrilled to meet a guy that was in Iraq within medical corps and who lives so close to the fantastic mountains. As keen snowboarders we were impressed. Bon ensured a cozy stay, some home-made cookies and lots of goodwill and fun.

Los Angeles (California) ’14 – we stayed at Ryan’s home for two nights and both we slept like children after amazing and action-packed visit in the City of Angels. Stunning panorama from Griffith Observatory, crazy Jeep tour , art walk and real actors on Hollywood Blvd. It just couldn’t be better.

Hilo (Hawaii) ’14 – Bob lives in the rainy, most authentic, not touristic nor commercialized part of the island. He took us on a local party, explained how crucial is the lava flow, shared the Hawaiian cocktail Chi-Chi, his stories and political views. Priceless!

Kansas City (Kansas) ’14 – finally me and Tom hosted someone during our 4-month stay in America. Joe flew from Seattle to cheer on his fave football team. We were happy to meet a great person from the state we didn’t know much about. We would love to visit Seattle one day and spend some more time with Joe. It’s a bit said that you come across some fantastic people, but they disappear from your life with the end of your/their journey...

Interests

Sports to some extent. Not that I am a real athlete, but if only I have a chance I go to various gyms and join some classes, especially spinning. I like comparig them.

Cooking - not because it sounds cool&fancy, I do really cook. And I never taste the dish before it is ready. It is usually a good pasta, soups, indian cuisine and more veggie stuff. I once tried to be a vegetarian for almost a year, but the purpose was to change the world and eating habits of my family. As my dad cannot imagine a diner without a beef steak I was not successful.

Giving things a second life - from polishing and painting wooden furniture, searching new armchair covers to visiting flea markets and purchasing some lovely stuff for a penny!

Interior design & vintage style (when I am visiting a new city I always look for vintage shops, flea and green open-air markets and local cafes)

Being curious, with eyes open wide and ears ready to listen to what people say. Maybe because I have a journalistic background or maybe because I am who I am.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

gosh for me too many things are amazing, like snowboarding in Zermatt-Cervinia - admiring Matterhorn from different angles; living in a former gothic church, getting my motorcycle licence and then never making any use of it or eating a whole jug of home-made chocolade in early nineties when hardly any good sweets were available in Poland

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom
