Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel authentically and experience places like a local rather than a tourist.
ABOUT ME
I had the opportunity visit both Costa Rica and Peru in high school on trips organized by my Spanish teacher. These trips fueled a love for traveling that continued when I studied abroad for a year in England and I was able to visit Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Spain, and Norway. The last couple of years have contained trips to Belize, Panama, Tanzania and South Africa, all being much shorter than I would like, but no less memorable.
PHILOSOPHY
Traveling is not about living the same way you do at home, somewhere new. You don't go somewhere to only visit the "tourist traps", take the same pictures that everyone before you has taken, and stay in five star hotels. Traveling is about getting away from the tourist traps, and instead diving into the food, the culture, the history, and the surrounding nature.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first couchsurfing experience was in Spain. That first night I completely changed my itinerary based on my hosts recommendation. I traveled to places that I had never heard of and stayed with other couchsurfing hosts that showed me their towns and cities in ways that I never could have imagined. I would not have seen half the places or had a fraction of the memories without the extensive community that couchsurfing offers.
