About Me

Hi, I'm Anne. I'm a writer and retired psychologist who is looking forward to my next adventure--hopefully one that involves travel and meeting new people, whether through my own travels or while extending hospitality to others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet and host new friends from around the world and show you some western hospitality. I also want to meet people as I travel, and would rather stay with people in their homes than rent hotel rooms. I'm tidy, respectful, easy to get along with, and helpful. I'd appreciate the chance to crash on your couch and hear about you and your life.

Like all good CouchSurfers, I love meeting new people, hearing your stories, and expanding my world view.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Americana and folk music, and my favorite band is "Annie Oakley," which is my twin daughters' band. I listen to and enjoy almost all kinds of music, and enjoyed playing the flute and guitar when I was younger. Favorite artists include Sarah Jarosz, Andrew Bird, Punch Brothers and regional favorites Kierston White, Kyle Reid, and John Fullbright.

I'm an avid lover of films and books, and am pursuing a lifetime reading plan and currently reading authors from the late 1700s and early 1800s.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done is raise 12 children and enjoy a 30-year marriage to my best friend. A widow now, I'm considering other amazing things I can do, such as write another book or travel to every state in the U.S., or around the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

While there is much I can teach, I very much enjoy learning about the lives and experiences of others and being delighted by the paradox of how much alike--yet so different--we all are. A published author and blogger, I'm an analytical psychologist, a good listener, and enthusiastically conversant in things personal and transpersonal.

We share what we have with guests. As a household, we're lively and hospitable while also understanding of a person's need for peace and quiet. We'll try and offer you both.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My three youngest kids are all in college and commute from our Oklahoma City home. We have a unique and interesting family culture, being a large multi-racial family built through birth and adoption. My kids range in age from 18-36 years, and I have eight grandchildren already!

Besides sharing stories about our huge and unusual family, we can entertain you with music, cook together, and take you along to any music or cultural events we're doing at the moment.

Countries I’ve Visited

Germany, Japan, South Korea
