About Me

Hi!
My name is Anne, I am 18 years old and just finished high school.
I'm taking a gap year because I love travelling.
I want to meet new people and explore new places.
My first travel was to Zagreb, where I worked in a hostel.
My favourite thing there was meeting new people, hearing their stories and making friends!
I learned so much from the people there. They truly changed my way of looking at life.
I love hearing others' perspectives on life and the things they've learned.

I still don't really know what I want to do with my life after I'm done with travelling.
I love being creative (writing, painting, drawing and crocheting), so ideally I would do something with that.
However, I'm open to learning new things. So if you would like to share your passions with me, I would love to hear about them!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is the ideal way of travelling. You meet loads of new people, who know the city you are in and can show you around or recommend places. They know their city much better than any tourist site I might look at otherwise.

I sadly can't host, because I don't have a place of my own. But if someone would need recommendations in The Netherlands or any other city/country I've been to, I'll happily give them!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like funk, rock and pop music. Some of my favourite artists are: Samm Henshaw, Paris Paloma, Arctic Monkeys, Gang of Youths (I LOVE their go further in lightness album!), David Bowie, Vulfpeck and Sammy Rea & The Friends.
My current favourite song is 'ik zwaai het uit', which is probably because it's Dutch nostalgia and I'm travelling :)

I always forget my favourite movie. I feel like my go-to answer is 'Slumdog Millionaire, but there are many more that qualify as my favourite. I don't think a movie has to be good to be enjoyable, so I also love 'She's the man' immensely.

My favourite book, hands down is 'I'll give you the sun by Jandy Nelson.' However, I'd gladly have you try and change my mind and give me some good book recommendations! I'm currently trying to get more into the classics and reading 'Little Women.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Solo travelling. I'm sure it's a very common answer on this site, but I'm very proud of taking the step.
I'm starting quite young and most of my family expected and wanted me to go to university.
However, I am so happy that I decided to take a gap year and travel.
I've only done it for a month at the time I'm writing this, and already I know I've made the right decision!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn about other cultures and their customs!
And, if you could teach me how to play an instrument or speak a language, that would be even better!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to draw or draw something for you.
I can also cook some Dutch dishes for you (the tasty ones, I promise).

Countries I’ve Visited
