About Me
Hello!
I am Anne,
I have grown up in Soest, The Netherlands, with my three sisters and brother and left my family when I was 18 years old to get experience as an au pair and to learn the beautiful French language in Saint-Brevin-Les-Pins, France. I stayed there for a year, and after that for another year in Nantes, to study at the University.
After this, I completed a bachelor degree in Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University (I like to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables :D), The Netherlands and a master degree in Biomedicine in Kuopio, Finland, where I had a great experience and met lovely people from many different countries. I love traveling, getting to know people from different cultures, and learning languages. A few years ago I also travelled through Russia, Mongolia and China with the Trans-Mongolia Express.
Nowadays, I am working in Oulu as a doctoral researcher in the field of cardiology. When I am not at work, I spend my time bouldering indoors and outdoors. I love nature and enjoying its activities with my friends like hiking, berry picking, fishing, camping, canoeing, SUP-boarding, and cooking delicious food on the fire.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to travel, get to know other cultures and places and meet new people, and I think that Couchsurfing is a good way to combine these things. Next to that, at the moment I am a single parent and have a lovely daughter of four years old. For the moment she lives in France with her father but hopefully, this will change soon. For now I can only see her in holidays, that is why I will go to France in October and am looking for a place where I can stay and spent time with her.
In Oulu I currently live in an appartment that is way too big for me alone so it would be nice to receive some guests sometimes and share experiences and thoughts:)
Interests
I like to do sports and circus, especially outdoor bouldering and aerial acrobatics (aerial silks and hoop) are my passion. Creating my own clothes is another thing that I like to do, although unfortunately, nowadays I don't take so much time for that. Baking cakes is my kind of meditation and makes me really happy and I like to be in nature and make long hikes. For example, we walked the West Highland way in Scotland with my family and the GR20 in Corsica with my sisters and friend, it was a beautiful and challenging hiking trail where we had the oppurtunity to meet many other hikers from all over the world.
