Hi, thank you for visiting my profile! I'm a 30 year old woman living in the beautiful city Leiden, half an hour by train from Amsterdam. In this city I enjoy running and watching the seasons change as I run. I enjoy dancing, mostly with my eyes closed, at techno & house festivals, though I go to Amsterdam and the Hague for the better ones, alone or with friends. Meeting awesome people is so much easier when you go to a festival by yourself :) I'm trying to be the best plantmom for all my plants, and like drawing, painting and reading, though I wish I made more time for it. I like singing in the shower and on my bike, mostly dancing on it too. Making people smile while doing it makes it even more fun. I tell myself they enjoy the sight of me enjoying my music and are not laughing in my face ;)

I work as a freelancer in the hospitality sector, at different companies in and around my city. The flexible freelancer life is great, and so is meeting a lot of new people, but I think next year I will try and find a job that fits in with my degree and passion more. Hopefully a job in sustainability, since I'm trying to live very sustainable in my daily life. Not throwing out any food, rescuing food that's about to be thrown away at my job, hardly using any plastic, not buying meat, buying secondhand clothes, those sorts of things. Of course the flights I booked are not sustainable at all, but, as they say, you can't do everything…Trying to save the world step by step ;)

The last couple of weeks I've been to San Francisco, Yosemite Park and LA, and it has been awesome, especially because I met so many wonderful people. I'm going to conclude my trip with some days in New York. Never been, I'm excited!

My friends describe me as someone who is easy going, fun to be around, a neatfreak (I see a great deal of myself in Monica from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. :p) clumsy, naive at times, a walking jukebox, caring, loyal and a good listener.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

The older I get, the more I enjoy meeting new people. These 4 weeks I will be travelling alone for the most part, but I know I will have way more interesting conversations and perhaps experiences with couchsurfing-hosts, than I will be having in a hotel/hostel/airbnb. It feels like a more genuine travelling experience. At my job I meet so many new people, and it is always great to learn about people's lives, their values, their dreams, and being inspired by them. This is what I want to continue doing during my travels.

If you're into techno music, you might wanna give the awesome Dutch DJ EgbertLive a listen. At festivals he only plays his own music. I go see him as often as I can.
If you're into (deep) house music, you might like Worakls, N'to, Joachim Pastor. Saw them perform at an awesome event in Amsterdam, last October.
Other artists I enjoy listening to: Bonobo, Rhye, Ludovico Einaudi, Maceo Plex, Maribou State, Dire Straits, Denis Sulta, Todd Terje, Alt J, DJ Koze

When it comes to movies, my favorites are: Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amelie Poulain, Love Actually, Notting Hill, Burlesque, Titanic, movies like that. I can watch them again and again.

I'm that annoying friend that can cite every scene in 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S.' Last year, I won a F.R.I.E.N.D.S popquiz, and yes, it was much harder than those buzzfeed quizzes. For my fellow F.R.I.E.N.D.S lovers: The prize was a recreated 'Geller cup' 😅

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Teaching English to Thai students in a very poor part of Thailand seven years ago was an amazing experience, especially because of all the sweet children, kind teachers/hosts and other interns I got to meet. For two months we experienced so many amazing things together. I am still very close with some of the interns I met. Learning to dive after the internship was amazing too. I've only done 8 dives in my life, but definitely want to do more. Diving during nighttime was awesome, and so was taking a camera with me underwater. I was the nerd of the course group because I took the part of logging all the fish we saw way too seriously, haha.
