About Me

Hi future friend!
I'm Anne and together with my partner Jeroen - try to pronounce that ;) - we are new here on couchsurfing after recommendations from friends! I (Anne) had a go on couchsurfing back in 2015 for my first ever solo trip to New York and loved it big time back then. But we never thought of it as a way of traveling together after. Until last year when we hiked the length of New Zealand where we were really blown away by the hospitality of all incredible people living close to the trail. Our favorite moments were the memories we made together with the hosts, the people we met and the kindness we experienced.

Our main purpose on couchsurfing is to connect with people. If you are a host and reading our profile after a request, we respect all choices, even if you don't want to host us, please let is know if you are interested in meeting up :)

About us: We are an adventurous couple! And love to keep learning while traveling, making friends, sharing good times and cultural values, keep expanding our horizons and we love a challenge or epic adventure! But we also love downtime, long chats, board/card games, having a drink or watching the night sky.

About us specific:
Anne, 25 years, in between healthcare jobs, medical doctor.
Jeroen, 30 years, electrician but open to any job in the future.

We are both vegetarian, but respect everybody's dietary preferences.

At this moment we don't have a house, but a bedroom at our parents place. This is also the reason why we could not host before. However, we do intend to host in the future, as we want to give back to the community!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Friends kept recommending couchsurfing as the community is the best they know of!
Besides, on our recent thru-hike in New Zealand we stayed many times with our tent in peoples backyard, the hospitality we experienced was incredible and made this trip so special. It's not the things that you do, but the experiences you share with others that we value the most.
We hope to explore more of Latin America this year (23/24), to learn more about the culture of this area of the world, to learn Spanish, to enjoy the nature and to MEET the people who call it their home!

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything! But mostly rock

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Our first country explored ever together was North Macedonia, a small Balkan country.
- Anne's first solo and couchsurf trip was to New York in 2015, after finishing high school.
- I (Anne) have done a medical internship in Nepal, in community medicine, during my medical study. This made a big impact on me, I never had a more raw and 'unfiltered' impression of a country before. Working in healthcare in Nepal was confronting, hard but I also learned so much. Unfortunately I could not finish my internship as covid made it's way into society.
- We have done some epic road trips: two people on one motorbike, driving 5 weeks through the rain in Northern Europe was definitely a challenge.
- We have backpacked in South East Asia and South Asia and made friendships for a lifetime, we now try to visit these friends during our summer vacantion.
- We have just finished hiking Te Araroa, a 3000 kilometer thru-hike, from the Northern most point to the Southern most point of New Zealand.
- We love hitchhiking, we've made great friendships through hitchhiking and learned so much of other countries and from people while chatting on board!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A great time, new friendships, cultural exchange, sharing time together and we are always keen to give back in ways that we can (e.g. cooking, some handy works in the house, language exchange)

IMPORTANT: We carry a tent, sleeping mats and bags with us, so we do not need much, just a piece of gras or a floor to put our mats on :) And there is two of us :)
