About Me

I come from a small village in the center of Quebec (called Manseau), and have lived in Quebec City for five years for my CEGEP and undergrad studies. My degree in Biology got me to a learn a lot about the world and environment, it also got me into 2 great-big-trips : a whole semester studying at UiO in Oslo, Norway, and an almost-2 months in Borneo, Malaysia, being "on the field" with a group of fellow students to learn about conservation issues and environmental projects. It also triggered passion for diving, which got me a master's project in Newfoundland ! I move to Newfoundland in 2012 to start my master's in marine biology, studying the biology and ecology of benthic invertebrates. I decided to stay on "the Rock" for a PhD program in marine biology, this time studying kelp beds.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started couchsurfing by hosting a bunch of people at our appartment in St. John's when I moved here. I really had a great time, and met a lot of very different people. I enjoyed my experience, and figured that it might be even more interesting when you're actually the one travelling ! I used CS a little while at a conference in Florida and had a great experience, and also a little during a trip to Germany although I was mostly staying at friend's and friend-friend's places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing things I did and that you should try once in your life : scuba diving in the St-Laurent River in Havre St-Pierre or Les Escoumins, and on the west coast of Norway. I had the chance to dive in Sipadan during my trip to Malaysia, I really recommend it, it is such a great experience ! (especially for a cold-water diver as I was up to then !). I also managed to snorkel with some whales - that was truly awesome, I could do that again anytime!
Things that I should do... soon ! : bunjee and river kayaking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lively chats about my experience travelling and learning; potentially giving you a little interest for scuba diving and the wonders of the sea if you let me talk long enough !
