About Me

CURRENT MISSION

People say I'm just bumming around
but I've had both my ears to the ground.

ABOUT ME

Hi everyone!
I'm Annie, but most people call me Pony.

It's always been my dream to travel the world. I can never get enough of seeing nature in all its different types of beauty and get to know many different and interesting people, languages and cultures. Maybe I just read too many adventure books as a child...! An addiction to novelty, the itchy-feet-thing.
I am lucky to already have had a nice share of wonderful adventures. For almost 3 years I travelled mainly around Australia, and a bit of Sri Lanka and Bali, living in my car, going to festivals, working odd jobs, collecting stories and trying to grow into a better and wiser person.

Since then I have seen bits and pieces of Europe in my breaks from uni.

I think I can dare to say that I'm a quite open-hearted person. I hate fights and pointless discussions as much as I love genuine knowledge sharing and thought-ping-pong. Sometimes I am too honest and have to remind myself to only say something if it's beneficial to say it. If you have any questions, just ask me!

PHILOSOPHY

"The only failure is never to try"
"Carpe diem" because I try to pick every day and make the most of it, and
"Life's truest happiness is found in friendships we make along the way" because that is just so true!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

With my three friends, I stayed at very friendly couchsurfers' places during my backpacking trip trough the south of Sweden!
That's how it started, since then I couchsurfed in every country I went to and always only had the most amazing experiences and met the best people.

Now that I have a home of my own, whenever I don't feel too busy or introverted, I like to host fellow backpackers who wish to connect with locals in the couch surfing spirit, trying to return all the favours I have received!

Interests

Music! Travelling! Animals - horses, cats, squirrels, dogs,... Nature, all of it, and experiencing it through hiking and camping, reading books and using them to travel with my mind, storytelling, minimalistic life, people helping each other grow, learning how to make things myself, cuddling, song lyrics and all that you can interpret into them, sleeping and having amazing dreams, doing any kind of art, singing and driving, hot chocolate, campfires, silent disco.

Music, Movies, and Books

Huuuuge fan Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Nahko Bear and Medicine for the People. They just make the soundtrack of my life.

I also love Neil Young, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Simon and Garfunkel, The Tallest Man on Earth, Boy, Kate Miller-Heidke, The East Pointers, The Eagles, Xavier Rudd, Santana, Parcels, Jack Johnson, Passenger, Tristan Prettyman, Paolo Nutini, Mama Kin and Tinpan Orange...

Books: too many, as long as it's a good story, from fantasy to classics...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Larapinta Trail in Central Australia and fell in love with the rainbow rocks.
Seen baby turtles hatch in the moonlight and crawl to the sea.
(Almost) climbed to the top of Pico del Teide on Tenerife for sunrise in -7 degrees and 170 km/h wind.

Teach, Learn, Share

A little bit of wisdom (I hope!). People tell me I'm good at hugging. Some people said I could inspire - I guess that always depends on your perspective, too. Since I read "Momo", I am working hard on being a patient, good listener. In the case that you like to listen, too: lots of Dreams and Stories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can fix your dreadlocks or make you some new ones/ I can paint something (maybe your car?!) or make you a sculpture if you give me a piece of clay... / I can sing you a song with the guitar, just don't let me convince you that I am shy/ I can try my best to cook up something tasty / If you get me started, I can tell stories about my travels and places I've been and show the best photos for hours on end, until you tell me to stop :D
