About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel. To write. To travel some more.
ABOUT ME
In Ghana my name is Atampoka. In Dar es Salaam my name is Ana and in my hometown in Denmark I'm just Anne. I'm travelling and living to meet people with different horizons and to understand their world. Therefore my name changes with the context I'm in - but they all arise from my lust for life, my political awareness and openness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm here to meet new people, share experiences and learn more about life.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Before joining Couchsurfing I travelled Europe using Servas. First Couchsurfing experience in the Spring of 2012 in Safranbulu, Turkey. Furthermore, I have used couchsurfing in Mwanza, Tanzania, and Kigali in Rwanda.
Interests
At the time being I'm living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where I'm working as communication intern in an NGO. I guess it tells something about my fascination of travelling, meeting people and reaching an understanding of different cultures. The multible cultures of the world brings meaning to my life - even on a grey Thursday afternoon in my Danish hometown. I like to describe the cultural encounters - reflect on the foreign, the dilemma of being a foreigner and the foreign in all of us. I like to express myself in articles.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. Touring East Africa with my old green backpack. On my way to Rwanda I was hosted by a friend's family in the hilly landscape of Western Tanzania. In the morning I crossed over to the Rwandan border on a piki piki (motor cycle taxi). We climbed up the hills, through the maize fields and passed by villages. I swept my scarf around my head and felt like I untied the chains of modern life and raced through freedom.
2. Sat on a crocodile.
3. Sat on a bus seat for 35 hours.
4. Lived with a local family in northern Ghana for 3 months while working as a volunteer. I clearly remember an afternoon with the kids of the family, singing 'AAh Boogie boogie boogie' while dancing round and round and watching the sky turn dark blue over the clay houses.
