One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went backpacking for 3 weeks in January 2012 in Vietnam.
Made friends with a xe om (motorcycle taxi guy) over a back-street noodle stall breakfast, and decided on a whim to join him for a distant family member's wedding that was happening the next day at dawn.
It took a 6-hour bus ride to get to Rach Gia in the countryside, and we got there at 5am.
It was amazing to help the family bring baskets of food and wedding gifts, loading all of them onto the flimsy little fishing boats.
Took another 3 hours to get there by fishing boat powered by a weed-whacker.
We had an amazing wedding breakfast of duck and 'longevity noodles' - really wish I didn't have to down that glass of Vietnamese moonshine though.
At this point, I was half-drunk and exhausted - ending the spontaneous wedding breakfast by falling asleep by the padi fields.
Would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
