About Me
Hi, I'm Anne! I'm a 26 year old travel/book/food/beer/pop culture lover. I have a background in social work, and spent a year between college and grad school traveling the U.S. in AmeriCorps. I've also traveled to several countries in Western Europe with a couple of lifelong friends I met while studying in Galway, Ireland. Right now I'm living with my wonderful husband, dorky dog, and silly cat in Saint Louis, MO.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I love to meet new people! I've moved so often in the past five years I can barely keep count, and it's hard to make new friends once you're in the daily grind of work. I'd love to make some new friends that share my love of traveling.
Interests
I like sampling new craft beers, baking and cooking (and eating) fresh and international foods, cuddling up with a good book, going to the movies, taking walks with my husband and pup, and decorating-- I'm a huge fan of mid century design.

Music, Movies, and Books
My musical tastes tend to lean towards indie or classic rock, with a large helping of 60s soul mixed in. Bon Iver, Neil Young, Black Keys, and Otis Redding are favorites.
I am a HUGE fan of watching and talking movies. Choosing a favorite is impossible, but some of my recent favs are Snowpiercer (anything with Tilda Swinton, really) and Interstellar (I saw it in IMAX and WOW).
Books? How can anyone choose?! How about authors? I've been reading Sarah Waters lately and enjoying it. I recently finished the second Justin Cronin, and I still can't sleep. A longtime favorite is Michael Chabon.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was in AmeriCorps (basically the domestic in-country version of the Peace Corps), I had a bunch of weird jobs that I never thought I'd have. Probably the weirdest thing I've ever done was serve as a controlled firefighter for the state of Missouri. I set huge native prairies on fire to burn them down, which helps them grow back in the new season and happened naturally through lightening storms in the past. I literally carried a torch around and set the ground on fire, and then had to control it so it didn't jump the fire line and catch private property on fire. It was terrifying and exhilarating. I was also certified in chainsaw safety. My resume is very interesting.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm actually pretty fond of cleaning. I can help wash dishes, start a load of laundry, etc. I'm also a HUGE pet lover. Let me walk your pup, or feed your snake, or keep your tarantula company. I will do it all.
I can also make a mean browned butter gnocchi with pine nuts, if you'd be comfortable with me cooking in your home.
I would love to learn a new language and learn to make your favorite food. I also would love to hear your favorite authors! I'm always on the search for new books.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook, and would love to share that with hosts, if they'd be interested. I'd also like to exchange recipes! I love to talk about anything and everything, and I have dreams of learning another language someday. Right now all I've got is English, but I'd happy to help a host or their family with some English practice. For other beer lovers, I can bring AMAZING local St. Louis beer to you!
