ABOUT ME

I'm always happy to visit new places, get to know people and exchange about culture. Working in research, being active in Scouting for many years, and travelling around, I made friends from many different places.
Also I'm a chocoholic and certainly qualify as nerd (by some definition of the term).

PHILOSOPHY

I think it's worse regretting things that I didn't do rather than those I did, that's why I like to try new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been sharing my flat with friends of friends long before I knew about Couchsurfing. I think it can be a great way of getting in touch with locals, which helps to get the best experience when exploring a new city.

I was quite impressed by the Couchsurfing community when the ScoutingTrain stopped in Novosibirsk, and we needed to find ~100 sleeping places for one night.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mainly listen to Ska, Punk, Rock in different flavors (Ska-P, Mad Caddies, Flogging Molly, Beatsteaks, The Hives, ...).
The German language is not known for being very harmonic, but I enjoy good wordplay in the songs of Die Ärzte, Farin Urlaub, Monsters of Liedermaching, Montreal, Blumentopf...

Movies: almost all by Quentin Tarantino, Coen brothers, and many of the things that Johnny Depp did...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in Lake Baikal and watching the sun rise above it -- great memories :)
More precisely: In 2014, I took part in the "ScoutingTrain", travelled from Berlin to Moscow, spend some days there to explore the city, and then continued along the Trans-Siberian Railway all the way to Irkutsk at Lake Baikal (with stops in Perm, Omsk, Novosibirsk). Spend another week of hiking on Olkhon Island (in Lake Baikal).
