About Me
// Travelling and working in Iceland over the summer 🌞 //
Hi ya! I'm Anni, I like unicorns (wonder why I live in Scotland...), anyone who surfs, mermaids and I'd probably like you, too. Here's my story very shortly:
After a few years of beach bumming, adventuring and working (usually cleaning toilets or something fancy like that) I've settled in Aberdeen, Scotland. My studies, hobbies and pretending that I actually enjoy talking to people (kidding... well, sort of) keep my quite busy, but I'd love to meet travelers visiting here, go exploring and perhaps host you if I can.
When I'm not stu-dying or pretending to study, I like dancing, yoga, surfing, longboarding, hiking and all-around adventuring. I'd love to share these things with you or try something completely new! I go to the beach as often as I can. I like mountains, too, but not as much as a good beach by the ocean. I'm slightly accident-prone, but you should be safe around me, I guess. I laugh a lot and enjoy spontaneous, adventurous people. I hate planning, I'd rather just go and get lost. I have an endless wanderlust, but lately I've been trying to remember that sometimes you don't have to go that far away to have a great adventure. Most of all though, I enjoy sleeping and eating.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I enjoy meeting new, interesting people, learning/teaching the culture and language and making friends for life. I could write much more than this, as I've had some pretty incredible experiences through couchsurfing, but I guess saying "because I love it" is sufficient.
Interests
Attempting to surf, doing headstands in cool places, catching nice sunrises and sunsets, walking on the beach for hours, collecting seashells, cruising around on my longboard, snowboarding, hiking up mountains, sleeping in a tent on the beach, road trips, going on spontaneous adventures, diving into new cultures and food in general. Want to get better at rock climbing! And acro yoga. Also getting into gymnastics and skateboarding.
Lately I've really enjoyed cold water swimming (or I just enjoy seeing the shocked faces of the Aberdonians).
I study Psychology, so I'm infinitely fascinated by the human mind; most of all how our brains function and why we sleep.

Music, Movies, and Books
Harry Potter was an integral part of my childhood, so those books will always have a special place in my heart. Otherwise I enjoy reading everything from guilty-pleasure chick lit to psychological thrillers and classics to contemporary. Carlos Ruiz Zafón is awesome.
I've seen all the Lord of the Rings films more times than I care to mention. What can I say...
Netflix: Gilmore Girls, Grace and Frankie, Jane the Virgin (gotta love all those strong female characters!) and many others. Currently going through a bit of a David Attenborough fandom.
Music: anything that makes me feel like I'm on the beach sitting by a bonfire. E.g. Jack Johnson, Xavier Rudd, Ziggy Alberts and the like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Skydiving in Queenstown, NZ, and another time in Portugal.
Swimming with whales in Vava'u, Tonga.
Snowboarding in Hokkaido, Japan.
Swimming with glowing plankton in the Philippines.
Walking through a 2-km long abandoned mining tunnel in Tenerife to be able to hike down to a closed beach (one of the scariest experiences of my life!)
Getting lost in a blizzard for a few hours while hiking Lochnagar in Scotland.
...and many, many other experiences!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm studying Spanish as an elective, so always eager to chat with a native speaker! Also would love to learn Japanese.
I can teach headstands and some yoga. Or perhaps bake cookies... I'm keen to learn new, delicious vegetarian recipes, and in return I can share my secret recipe for curried coconut quinoa (just kidding, I got it off the Internet).
Can share just about anything from cooking, good music, adventuring, whatever!
