About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn how to make a perfect pie crust

ABOUT ME

HI, my name is Annie Stellar. Short story, I'm from South Pasadena (Los Angeles area) and go to college in Santa Cruz, CA. Currently, I'm in Lyon, France for my last year of school and I'm trying to learn French and find the best cheese that has ever existed.

The long story is a longer story. These things always make me feel weird, where you're supposed to somehow explain who you are in a paragraph. I kind of object to the idea that a soul can be summarized, but here we go: i really like coffee, walking in the woods, singing top 40s and getting the lyrics wrong, going to shows, seeing people resist the shittiness of society, reading things that make me reimagine the world, meeting people that make me question my beliefs, wondering about why people do things, wondering about how people identify themselves.

I'm interested in language in a few different ways: its technical formation from a formal standpoint, how people use it to create their identities, and its shortcomings - what is lost through linguistic expression. I only speak English and a little French, so I'm always interested in what polyglots have to say about everything - I love talking about this stuff.

PHILOSOPHY

Share what you have, like what you get, don't worry too much, always do what you can to make somebody feel good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met so many amazing people through this project! It always feels good to see how many people want to share what they have in this big world.

Interests

Reading (favorites: david foster wallace, don delillo, kurt vonnegut). Writing. Sometimes drawing. Movies (Jim Jarmusch, Terry Gilliam, John Waters). Ferris wheels. Sitting at coffee shops. Eating burritos. Finding delicious cheap food and being really excited about it. Whiskey. Being with people who don't take themselves too seriously. Music (all of it). I really love going to shows and finding DIY spaces. Being lost, especially because I'm usually too afraid to look at a map and point myself out as a tourist. Riding bikes. Cheap clothing. Trying to make things and sometimes failing. Watching Twin Peaks. Yeah!
