À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Be Fearless

ABOUT ME

I love new adventures and can't stay put. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and epic backpacking trips. I'm a very relaxed person and enjoy good discussions over good food. I believe that the simple things in life are the best things.

I was born and raised in Chicago, IL (and proud of it!). Chicago is seriously a wonderful, wonderful city. One of the first things people ask me about is my ethnic background. My grandparents immigrated to Vietnam when they were young and my parents immigrated to the States after the Vietnam war, but I am 100% Chinese American.

I received a scholarship and went to Pomona College in Southern California for my undergrad. During that time, I got to go study abroad in New Zealand. This is where my sense of adventure really developed and I haven't been able to contain it ever since.

Right now, I'm teaching English in Vietnam and am looking forward to traveling around Southeast Asia.

After this adventure, who knows what lays ahead for me?

PHILOSOPHY

Live the dream.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only couchsurfed once so far, but I have a bunch of friends that do it all the time and rave about it. I want to do it more and am trying to for my upcoming trip.

I would love to host and have ended up hosting some travelers that pass by where I am currently living (not through CS though), but the truth is most people do not have an interest in visiting Long Xuyen, VN.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only couchsurfed once in Manila, Philippines. It was a wonderful experience! My host was starting a hostel in Manila so it was fun to run around the city with him to run his errands and see the city in the process.

Centres d'intérêt

I'm always seeking new ways to challenge myself and grow as a person. I like seeing all the beautiful things the world has to offer. My favorite thing to do is to travel. My favorite thing to do when I visit places is to meet locals and fellow travelers to hear their stories. They're some of the most inspiring stories I've ever heard and definitely have affected and continue to affect the person I am in a big way. Trying the local cuisine and beer is also a must. I enjoy doing outdoor activities and visiting cultural sights when I'm traveling. Anything with water or guaranteed adrenaline rushes and I'm in!

I also enjoy backpacking in the backcountry and am itching to go on another trip soon! I have a love for nature and believe in respecting it.

When I'm at home, I like to cook and try new recipes.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

My favorite movies include Ocean's 11, The Artist, She's the Man, and the LOTR trilogy.

I usually read books with magic in them. I'm a huge fan of Game of Thrones and devoured HP when I was younger. I also like reading pieces on environmental issues, sustainability, and nutrition. I also love David Sedaris.

I listen to a wide range of music including hip-hop, indie pop, r&b, classical, American country, jazz, and indie folk pop.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

There are some hot springs hidden away in the South Island of New Zealand. My friends and I took a backpacking trip up there. We spent the afternoon soaking in these natural wonders. At night, the stars came out in the clear NZ sky and we were nestled away in snow capped mountains under a bright full moon. We were the last ones to leave the springs and that was only because we had turned to prunes by then.
