Someone once called me an 'introvert trapped in an extrovert's body' and that sums me up quite well. I can be very vivacious and outgoing, but I also really enjoy quietly pondering the world, preferably with a cup of tea in hand. I'm quite independent, but my friends are my world (they're all amazing).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm only just getting started. I'm pretty into South African youth culture (a lot of my work has been around reporting on local trends, music and so forth), so I guess I hope that I'd be able to show people from anywhere else in the world just how cool South Africans really are.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Like I said, I'm only just getting started. I'm friends with a couple of experienced Couchsurfers though, so they're going to be my gurus for the time being - they always seem to have the best people staying with them and have had amazing trip themselves.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Wow, this is really too expansive to get into. Here's what I'm currently occupying my mind with:
Reading: (rereading) The Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy. I'm big into reading and tend to hop between transgressive fiction (think Burroughs, Ballard and Bret Easton Ellis) and classics (Steinbeck, Hesse and the like).
Music on heavy rotation this week: Gesaffelstein, Beck, Run the Jewels, Queens of the Stone Age, Ty Segall, Mogwai, Japandroids, Boards of Canada.
Movies: I'm rewatching season 1 of The X-Files. I am (reformed) once-upon-a-time film student, so my favourite movies range from the somewhat obscure all the way through to the cheesiest B-grade shockers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could definitely teach Afrikaans for beginners - or at least enough to make sense of Die Antwoord lyrics. I also make the best chocolate brownies and can show you how.
