About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get moving, ride a bike, go swimming

ABOUT ME

I am a Texas gal living in Virginia, that knows something about southern hospitality. I currently work for a non-profit in Richmond, VA coordinating volunteers to take water quality samples all across the Chesapeake Bay watershed. I love my job!

I'm not picky and am easy to please: I lived in a tent for 8 months so anything with a roof on it is something I can appreciate.

I love bicycling, bike polo, bike touring, hiking, camping, gardening, farming, traveling, cooking, musicing, just about all the good things in life. I am always down for an adventure and try to try everything at least once. I'm addicted to traveling in the United States, there is just so much to see and do I'm overwhelmed by the scale. Soon I'll get the gusto to cross the pond, but not just yet.
visited 35 states (62%).

PHILOSOPHY

Study the earth by living with it, digging in it, exploring it, sharing it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a bit through CS and a lot through bike polo, and I've hosted a lot of touring bands at my house. I live in a house with a guest room and would love to host friendly travelers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Did NOLA and Nashville, met awesome people. Made friends at the Couch surfing events like potlucks!

Interests

traveling, letterboxing (atlasquest.com) spending time in the dirt, riding bikes, rocks & water, exploring places I'm not supposed to, sewing, bike polo, cooking good food with friends, lots of other cheesy stuff that makes me smile

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm open to and enjoy all music. Vague but true. I'm a public radio DJ and must have an ear for everything.
Movies: Old 30s-60's musicals. Gene Kelly any day
Books: I wish I had more time to read!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One summer I traveled the U.S. and stopped in Joplin, MO for a short bit to help run saw and organize the cleanup effort after the May tornado ripped through the town. The power of nature is humbling, the power of the human spirit is even more so. The people that I met and the work that we did will stay with me forever.
