About Me

CURRENT MISSION:
1. Find the sparkle again.
2. Smash capitalism. (I strongly feel that Nr. 1 and Nr. 2 are correlated).
3. Write a book about my life because I truly belive that every person's life is book-worth. I think we lack honest, experience based literature that we can actually relate to. (Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy fiction as well.) And the only experience I can write about is my own.

ABOUT ME:
I'm feminist, vegan, pro-choice, pro-cats, pro-body-positivity, ex human, animal and LGBTI rights activist.

But I'm also stubborn as it turns out. I grind my teeth and (gently) snore in my sleep. I'm fun but can make a dead serious face if needed. I'm not allowed to caugh because then hiccups will start and that will ruin my mood. The same thing happens when I try to clean my ears. Oh, the wondrous world of human anatomy!

Recently I have crumbled under the pressure of capitalism and am after the big bucks. I'm trying to stop, though. I'm trying to find new meanings and fulfilments to my life than spending the hard earned money on books, speciality coffee, my partner, food and traveling. Oh, don't forget the rent! Freedom here I come!

PHILOSOPHY:
The thing that gives our every move its meaning is always totally unknown to us.

That was my philosophy a few years ago. (Don't you just love how after a while you update your CS profile and see how much you've changed over the time?) Now I think that we should know what gives meaning to our every move otherwise life would be meaningless and we would not move forward at all. We are the ones who hold the creation of meaning in our own hands.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING:
Hosting, surfing, you know, the usual stuff.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE:
I'm a beginner in this whole thing.. but for some years I've been a member of HC so the whole idea is not completely strange to me.

Don't fall for the above-mentioned, it's old.

Interests

Let's get the theory off the table first and then continue with the fun part:
gender and queer studies, feminism, human and animal rights, animal ethics, intersectionality.

Besides theory I'm interested in real life experiences of queer and gender queer people and self-identified women and women of color. But that surely doesn't mean that if you're a white, straight male I would not be interested in your stories, opinions, experiences, guilty pleasures or number of your toes or that we would not have fun at my (or your) kitchen table or in the bar around the corner. We sure would! Don't believe me? Surf my couch!
I like collecting, making and reading about zines. I like to cook, especially scrumdiddlyumptious desserts and mock foods. Vegan fried eggs sunny side up for anyone? On a day off I would probably be baking something potentially divine or trying out a new recipe. But of course eating is THE BEST PART! I love cats as well. I wish my Instagram had more food and cats in it.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
Music used to play a great deal in my life. Until I went through a period when my head was a blank and I had no thoughts, no interests, "no nothing" as they say. I wish I could reestablish the solid bond I had with music but it has never been the same again.

Yet I've went through some quite significant periods in my life thanks to music.
First there was American alternative metal (I still sometimes can't get over Deftones. Due to that band me and my brother realized we could actually be friends. It took us 14 years or so and one cassette tape to understand that!),
then there was Islandic post-rock (Is there anyone out there that hasn't loved Sigur Ros at some point in their lives?),
then came British classic rock (Pink Floyd for evaaaaa!),
followed by Swedish post-rock (That's when I discovered that concerts are a perfectly good reason for traveling.)
and naturally bringing me to Norwegian ambient (I lived in Norway then. It could not have happened any other way.)

MOVIES:
Little Miss Sunshine; The Apocalypse Now; Pink Floyd in Pompeii; Wicker Park; Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring; The Seventh Continent; Mannen som elsket Yngve; The Screaming Masterpiece, Efter brylluppet.
There are many more to like of course but these have shaped the way I perceive and feel the world in one way or the other.

TV series: Parks and Recreation, Transparent.

BOOKS: The one I've read most recently and that had a real wow-effect on me was "Gender Failure" by Ivan E. Coyote and Rae Spoon.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Rereadig and rewatching Harry Potter for the I-don't-know-which time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went on a closest-to-death-I've-ever-been trip to Finland to see the northern lights. They were definitely worth it!

Teach, Learn, Share

Can we make a zine together? I think we should!
