Overview
About Me
Hey you,
we're Bela and Annika, a young couple from Germany.
We finished school last year and are now about to find our ways in life.
Whilst Annika was working with handicapped children for some moths and is traveling Europe now, Bela does a volunteer service as paramedic for one year.
Whenever we have the possibility we try to also travel together in order to get to know our neighbouring counties.
Last year we traveled through the Netherlands and this spring we plan on doing a trip of 3 weeks through Skandinavia via Interrail.
During this journey, we intend to go hiking and sleeping in a tent surrounded by nature as well as meeting people from the countries we travel through.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When Annika used couchsurfing in France and Italy with a friend of her (on their profile "dieSchöne undDasBiest", they do also have reffercences) she was impressed by the way , they get welcome very caring by people the knew nearly nothing about when they arrived and by how you share moments that turn to memories in a relatively short time.
We would like to no only see the touristic part of cities but also know about how life there really is, to find places maily locals go to and to get the feeling of being a guest and not only a tourist.

Music, Movies, and Books
For film, book and music it is difficult to answer as we both have our own preferences but in general we like to hear pop music as for example Ed Sheeran or Kelvin Jones but also many singer-songwriter newcomers (Dean Lewis, Gavin James, Seafret , Dermot Kennedy..) and some French and German interprets too.
Apart from the music genres we regularly hear, we are open to get to know new and different kinds of music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the experiences that encouraged Annika to go traveling were her stays in Taizé. Taizé is a little community in France which became a place where people from all over the word come together and you share a common life at hundreds of people.
What makes the life there special is on the one hand that the living conditions are those of a modest life and on the other hand -and even more important- that everyone contributes to this common life and is part of a big community which brings people with diverse backgrounds together without making them feel different from one another but (on the contrary even), linked by something which is beyond cultural or ethnic affiliation.
One thing that impressed Bela in a particular way, was when he traveled to Morroco with his geography class two years ago.
When they arrived at the airport after their flight, first they didn't notice any differences to where they started their journey.
However, just a few seconds later, when they went outside, they directly knew, they were in a different culture.
There were these big markets were you are haggling over every manderin, the snake charmers, music everywhere and of course people.
One day they visited a school and met its studends.
Even if they could speek just a few words of German just like Bela and his classmates, speeking just a few words of Arabic, they had a lot of fun, visiting their school, playing soccer together and 'talking' with hands and feet.
Everyone was openminded and both sides were interested in each others country, culture, food and much more.
This experience really encouraged Bela to go out and get in touch with the world and their inhabitants.
