ABOUT ME

Hi my name is Annika. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara about a year ago. I studied economics and accounting with a minor in Italian. My couchsurfing adventures began about 3 years ago when I studied abroad in Italy at the University of Padova.

I currently am living in Santa Barbara which is a beach town north of Los Angeles in southern California. I live with two other fantastic girls that are both working full-time in SB. Most of my time here is spent working, studying, hiking, running, clubbing or going to the beach but I love traveling the most :)

I'm down to try just about everything at least once and can't wait to hear about your crazy travels :)

PHILOSOPHY

Don't regret the past or fear the future because everything happens for a reason. All things good and bad are a part of you so learn from them and you can only get stronger.

Also, I think it's necessary to try and do something everyday that scares you... it's character building.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I have mostly only taken advantage of staying on other people's couches in Italy, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands.
All awesome experiences and now I'm addicted!

I have hosted a few people in the past, but I'm looking forward to getting back into hosting more people now that I am more settled!

Interests

I love dancing. By far my biggest passion.
I also love traveling, listening to music, drinking, cooking (even though I'm not that good), singing (but you don't want to hear me sing), shopping, and random play.

I have recently taken a liking to running. Not my favorite past time but I plan to run a half marathon in a few months and am learning to appreciate it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a sucker for romance movies like The Notebook, Wicker Park, Atonement, Dirty Dancing, and Pretty Woman but I also love comedies like Anchor Man, 40 Year Old Virgin, Super Bad, and The Hangover. I guess it just depends on my mood because I also enjoy random movies like Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas & Pulp Fiction. As far as music, I love just about everything techno, rap, country, classical, indie, rock, hip hop... very easy to please.
My favorite book of all times is The Giver, but when I was younger it was Love Me Forever and now it's A Thousand Splendid Suns. I love reading but these days, but I don't have much spare time.
All in all I'm open minded

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked across Yosemite for 2 weeks and up Half Dome,

and the sun rising over the ruins in Rome,

and thousands of people dressed in slutty halloween costumes walking down one little street in Isla Vista... definitely a sight to see.

Three completely different things but both were awesome.

I love to learn about you and share laughter ... as far as teaching goes, I don't have much to bring to the table, besides knitting?
