About Me

I'm a considerate and gentle person who loves to laugh.

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring New Zealand's highlights before 29 February 2016.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a few surfers stay over just before I went to Australia last year and in the last month I finally had the pleasure of surfing myself. I like to change my "scenery" from fellow Europeans at hostels to NZ locals. I think it helps getting a more "authentic" kiwi experience and travel insights beside the obvious tourist spots, like it did doing the "workaway". Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time left to continue workaway'ing (although I have scored a few which allowed me to stay just a few days, which was awesome!), so this would be a great alternative to still meet locals and hear their stories.

Interests

Meeting new people and learning from them in one way or another, animals and nature (it was very special for me to see dolphins, penguins, native birds, seals, sea lions,...outside of a zoo), chocolate (in all shapes and sizes...especially comparing it to my favorite Belgian kind...;-P I've already tried the Whittaker's chocolate milk after an insider tip and the Whittaker chocolate with strawberry and the one with coconut + a few Cadbury flavours thanks to my guided tour in the museum in Dunedin), dancing, horse riding, quad biking, having new experiences (like handling a chain saw, sea/gulf kayaking, splitting wood,...), tv series, exploring new areas (duh ;-P)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of different TV series e.g. Supernatural, Cougar Town, Heroes, Veronica Mars, Bones, The Mentalist, Castle, etc.
When it comes to books I prefer reading supernatural fiction in English like the Twilight series, Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood), etc. Yes...I know...:-P
I love all kinds of music as long as it's not hours of the same kind. It just depends on my mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been lucky enough to experience plenty of amazing things in my life. E.g. meet new people and be invited into their home the next day to have dinner together.
My travels to Australia are the biggest chunk of amazing things and a lot has happened while Down Under. 1 example: 3 day canoe trip through the Noosa Everglades including a night session during full moon topped up with some crisps along the way.

The Tongariro Crossing has been ticked off my bucket list since 14/01/2016. Woehoew! It was my first ever hike (other than some simple walks of less than 4h or so).

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a Jack of all trades and a master of none, but always happy to help/assist. If you're learning Dutch or French, I can help you practise. If you're learning Spanish or German...I can TRY to help you practise.:-P

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories of travels, good laughs, "a listening ear" (literally translated from Dutch, but you know what I mean), cooking/baking, always happy to chip in with some cleaning duties...just let me know what I can do to help.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, France, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Tunisia, United Kingdom
