About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To show our two wonderful children how to live life in a way that´s beneficial both to themselves and the world around them. To enjoy life at its fullest.

ABOUT ME

What my best friends would say? I hope they would say I´m fun to be with, can be serious as well, that I´m hospitable, sporty, an enjoyer of life and the good things in it -be it nature, good food, music, togetherness.

PHILOSOPHY

Be in the moment, enjoy the moment, seize the day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We were hosted for 9 days by Roman and Helen near Zürich, and that was a truly great experience! Before internet, I surfed couches and hosted surfers and I feel it´s the best way to get to know the real face of humanity -the very pretty face! Roman and Helen are like an advertisement for CS -freely sharing their rooms and time and knowledge. Sharing and togetherness, that is our first CS experience.

Jo and Sanne in Münster hosted us for one night, which was another great experience. They are both very hospitable, openminded and funny and so are their very sweet two little girls. The daughter we did not see allowed us to stay in her room! A perfect time we had, and since we had so much to talk about, we didn´t get to sightseeing Münster. That calls for a new date...

We hosted our dear friends Helen and Roman with their son Erik, who were so kind to visit us in Cologne after we stayed with them in Switzerland last summer. Another great CS experience; we had a great time altogether

Interests

I am a yogateacher, so I spend quite a bit of my time practising and meditating. Apart from that I go running regularly, I like reading, gardening, cooking, eating and talking, sailing, swimming, visiting museums, cinemas and concerts. In the past I went diving, skiing and snowboarding frequently -since I have two young children, my holidays have changed.
Jörn has many likes in common; apart from that he likes to play the piano (which he does pretty well) and practices the guitar.
Our children are fond of moving in any which way -be it in or outside of the water-, they like to play games and to be read to.

Music, Movies, and Books

All styles of music can be wonderful, and we love many of them -classical, jazz, pop, reggae, funk, soul, salsa, rock. What we listen to changes all the time. Currently Kenny Garrett, Sol Gabetta, Jarabe de Palo, Citizen Cope, Clifford Brown. Always Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Bach and Dinah Washington. Sometimes the Kooks, Kula Shaker.
Movies currently with the children the real old Charlie Chaplin and Mary Poppins, otherwise we are captured by The Wire (HBO series)and many many good movies -I like almost anything Woody Allen ever made, same for Coen Brothers and Pedro Almodovar. Furthermore Harold and Maude, Jim Jarmusches works, and so on and so forth.
Authors I like are Chad Harbach, Philip Roth, Zadie Smith, Jonathan Safran Foer, Amy Tan, several Dutch authors, Gabriel García Marquez, Eduardo Galeano and always the old classic Yogabooks! Patanjali, Bhagavad Gita.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing a mantaray floating by while diving off the coast of Roatan, Honduras. Then the magic moments when there are vibes of celebrating life in a concert, doesn´t matter whether jazz or rock or classic, big or small. And ofcourse, on a daily basis, being with my children, seeing their personalities coming out and growing more and more in different angles.

Teach, Learn, Share

I´m always open to learn about music, cooking, other ways of living a spiritual life, other cultures. I can teach yoga and sailing. I am willing to share insights on education and everything else that is valuable. If you like my cooking I could also share that ofcourse.
