About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Doing lots of freakishly cool things with amazingly crazy people...

ABOUT ME

Please check my couch status! Coffee only usually means Coffee only. If you think you still want to surf with me, make sure to tell me why I can't miss you. If my couch is available and you send me a message instead of a couch request, I might not reply.

That said, let's go on the to fun stuff!

Generaly I am a active, open-minded, always smiling, communicative, quite balanced but lively, quite crazy young gay man. Some people call me freak and that probably has a reason ;) I'm always up to do something, love making movies (building the set), a bit nerdy, when it comes to macs, android or web things, I'm into design and photography, genuinely interested in almost anything and always looking for new experiences. Something like that. ;)

For all, who like to know a bit more, here are some details:

In high school, concentrated less on school and more on clubs and organizations like the student representative body or the school student newspaper. I was lucky, that with most of the organizations and teams, I was a member in, I could travel in Switzerland and german-speaking europe and meet new people.

After secondary school I did quite some different things, helped to organize an international youth media camp, worked as a waiter and as screen designer and met more great people. Some of them I keep visiting regularly.

After a base year in Design, I somehow succeeded to decide for one single class, which happened to be "Style & Design" at Zurich University of the Arts. It's a brand new study and tries to connect design with research in terms of branding and product development as well as fashion and trend-spotting. It definitely made me think a lot about what I want to do and what not. Not I'm standing here with my BA in my hands and still didn't quite figure out where to go.

I like to work with my hands, building film sets or other things, I also enjoy print graphics the more geeky things like screen design.

During my years at art school I worked for big Swiss musical production, then changed to a smaller comedy theatre and always did freelance graphics to earn some extra money.

In the future I'd love to work with musicians to bring their music alive in a visual way. That could be just album covers and video clips or whole concert stage designs. It definitely depends on the band what sort of visual backing would be best to support their music. Hit me up if you're interested.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't be too complicated. Be passionate.

Well, this is not a phrase I live after since ever, but it describes quite well how i think.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll host as many people as I can. Sadly that's not possible at the moment.I used to work as one of the many Zurich Ambassadors. For now I had to resign as an Ambassador because I was just too busy to do as much as I wanted.

I'm always up for a cup of coffee (or tee) if you need someone to talk with.

And as you can see, I also LOVE to CS myself and spread the love. I guess I already convinced tons of people to join CS... Good people.

Take a look at the CS Zurich wiki for tips to see/do in and around Zurich!

Music, Movies, and Books

I always buy books, but somehow miss to read them. Basically I realy like to read, I just forget to do it. If I read a book, it is often a contemporary work, one that cought my attention, when I walked through the book store. And that canbe quite everything.

Same with music, I do listen to music quite often, but I don't manage to remember the titles or artits of a song I like. So I used to listen to a radio station until I didn't like the music any more (they tend to play the same kind of music all day) or just shuffle my iTunes library. During the last year i eventually managed to get to know my library a little bit better. Now I do quite a good job in picking at least the genre of music, I'm in the mood to listen to.

At the moment this is somewhat like pop, funk, indie rock, accoustic hip hop (not that gangsta thing, but banda like sound providers or dillated people), and other music with a positive mood. I listen to Gossip, Pet shop boys, Neon Indian, Russ Chimes, Flight of the Concords, MIKA, Scissor Sisters, Yelle, Pink Floyd, Pink, Hot Chip, Black Kids, Jason Mraz and many others...

As long as there's some melody and generally a positive mood to the music, I'll probably like it.

Realy great are music festivals in summer time. There's almost nothing that can reach the sensation of hundreds or thousands of laid back people listening, dancing and partying for three or four days. All the different bands, the people, some friends. Just perfect.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have experienced happend more than once. It is the moment you realize, that all the work you did the months ago, organising an event or creating something, is being appreciated, that everything works thanks to you and your co-workers. Not that everything is perfect, but that it works because all did their best.

Something that also amazes me is that you can meet people on the other side of the world, people that have completely different lives and still with some of them you get this instant connection. It just works and you feel like you know each other since ever...

Teach, Learn, Share

Well with me you need to learn how to live spontaneously, to make the best of your time on earth and have a good time. But most couchsurfers don't need to learn that.

So I could maybe help you with computer issues (Mac at least), introduce you to layout and graphic design, show you how to make the best of a weekend at a music festival, how to cook nice food improvising with what you have or how to bake cakes, nothing in particular, I guess. Just random things.

On the other hand I'm always open to learn new things. Rather on the practical side, but I do also enjoy to talk about natural sciences as long as it does not take days. I'll tell you If I'm not interested at all in something you tell me and listen if it does interest me.
