About Me

I'm passionate about our world. By being passionate about it, I mean that I feel immense compassion for all the other human beings. I'd rather be an activist for what I believe in, to revolt whenever I see something ruthless happening (whether it's here or in the other side of the world) than to fall into a sense of conformation. I'm always trying to make my voice be heard and I'm always using it to fight for Human Rights and to fight for all those whose voice were silenced through means of oppression. I can say that my biggest dream is to see the world embracing peace, with everyone living for today, with nothing to kill or die for, a truly brotherhood of man, with the world living as one. You can really see that I'm a dreamer (and a huge Beatles fan as well), don't you?

I don't really believe in these feelings of nationalism and like Socrates once said, I feel like I am not an Athenian or a Greek (or in my case, Portuguese) but a citizen of the world and that's why I'm always in the mood to travel (aka when my budget lets me do it). I love to broaden my horizons and it makes me feel truly realized at a personal level. Life's too short to be limited to our comfort zone and that's why I find it so important to always be willing to meet new people, new places and new cultures. I feel that every place and every person always have something new to teach us and I'm always open to new knowledge!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd rather travel while I get to know the true culture of the place, staying with locals and having direct contact with them than to stay at really expensive and fancy hotels all by myself. I feel like that there is no better way to truly experience the place we are travelling to than to stay with people from there. And I'm pretty sure that by staying with a local, I'll feel way more adventurous, I will have plenty of stories to tell and I will save money to visit more museums and historical places. And, of course, I love the idea of making friends from all around the globe!

Music, Movies, and Books

Art in all its expressions is what fulfills me and I always feel this urge to watch new movies, listen to new musicians, to read new books, to go to new museums and just even discover new places or old ones with new details.

My favorite band of all time is, definitely, Pink Floyd! I also love with all my heart many other different artists, actually too many to write, but: The Doors, The Beatles, David Bowie, Tame Impala, Nirvana, Joy Division, Bon Iver, The Smiths, The National, Father John Misty, Arcade Fire, Kendrick Lamar, Slowdive, The Vaccines, Eddie Vedder, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, The War on Drugs, and so manymanymany more...

My favorite movies (in no order in particular) are Mr. Nobody, Pink Floyd: The Wall, Waking Life, Star Wars, Fight Club, Interstellar, Inception, Shutter Island, Clockwork Orange, Donnie Darko, Psycho, The Shining, Memento, The Dark Knight, Into the Wild, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Submarine, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight, Requiem for a Dream, Se7en, Vertigo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Amélie, The Prestige, Trainspotting, American Psycho, Leon, Reservoir Dogs, The Hateful Eight, Her, 12 Angry Men, José & Pilar, Inglourious Basterds, Thd Lobster, Roma, Get Out, City of God, Cinema Paradiso, Dogtooth, Life is Beautiful, The Silence of the Lambs, The Truman Show, Mulholland Drive, Fargo, Arrival, Dead Poets Society, Mommy, Persepolis, Synedoche, New York and Dr. Strangelove.

My favorite books are Blindness, Brave New World, The Death of Ivan Ilitch, 1984, Animal Farm, Le Deuxième Sexe, A Geração da Utopia, The Unbearable Lightness of Being and everything that was ever written by Fernando Pessoa. Besides literature, I'm always reading some book related to Politics.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love cooking and I'm a vegetarian, so we can combine these two factors and I can cook you delicious vegetarian dishes! I can make vegetarian versions of some of the most typical portuguese dishes. I'm always willing to discuss Politics and whatever is happening in the world at the moment, as well as music, books and movies. I would love to show you some of the best portuguese music (we have a lot, believe me). We can share memories, experiences, beliefs, ideas and dreams. And of course, I can share my company if you want to show me the best places in town!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in the suburbs of Lisbon, so you would be only a 20 minutes train ride from there. We have a river separating us from Lisbon and you would have a beautiful trip, on top of the river with a great view.

I would love to show you some of the most beautiful places of the suburbs as well as from the capital. We have a lot of beaches surrounding us and I'd gladly take you there. I have an extra bed where you can stay, as well as a couch. I have a cat who would love to follow you to the bathroom. I promise you a coffee, delicious homemade vegetarian dishes and good conversations!
