About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To satisfy some of my curiosity about the world, meet some interesting people and reignite my sense of wonder.

ABOUT ME

I am a stage Manager in London, I am 27, tall, brown hair, brown eyes, not great at describing myself in a few sentences! I am taking a break from ordinary life to wander the world, but I love my job, and I love my friends back home. London is a wonderful place to live, but for the moment I am very happy being a citizen of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

'Be adventurous' and 'do as you would be done by' just about sum it up for me...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am travelling at the moment, so I am looking to couch surf for a while, and then when I get back to London, find a nice flat and decorate it with all the crazy accumulated stuff from my travels, I will open my doors to any and all who wish to stay, show them all the best pubs and where they can eat food from Shakespeare's time, get passes for the plays I'm working on, trips to the nicest parks, food markets and shopping districts, some more pubs and general London-esque fun.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I only recently joined CouchSurfing, so I have no dierect experiences with them, but I have had a LOT of people stay on couches in the places I have lived. I think the best example of this was when I lived in Cornwall, I was renting a room in this old hotel on the beach...(it was very small... about 20 rooms on the first floor above a reception area, dining room and ballroom), it was decorated in the style of Kubrick's Overlook Hotel, though thankfully we didn't have Jack Nicholson running around with an axe...
This did nothing to stop people from dropping by on Friday afternoon for a coffee and not leaving for two weeks... because we had so much space our friends would throw parties, have band practices, store surf boards, put on art exhibitions and generally make good use of our hotel!!! I used to love wandering downstairs in the morning meeting new people drinking coffee in the kitchen with my housemates... There was never a dull moment.

Interests

-Theatre, all types, from all places
-I love to cook and put on dinner parties
-I play the guitar, not with a huge amount of dexterity, but I love it, and I write songs too.
-I can make friendship bracelets and balloon animals
-I love seeing live music
-I would like to learn how to:
play chess, blow glass, make pottery, do tai-chi, find my way around a car engine, surf properly, snowboard without falling on my face.... the list goes on... basically I'm a pretty curious person.

Music, Movies, and Books

Asking an English Literature student to list her favourite books is always a dangerous activity!! I have eclectic tastes in all three... my ipod reads like it has multiple personality disorder, my DVD collection is a)massive and b)complete chaos and I have forgotten what my walls look like as there are so many books lining them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the sun rise over the salt flats of Uyuni last month. The salt crust sparkled orange and gold all around me and it was the most beautiful sight. A few days later I mountain biked down 64km of Death Road outside La Paz in a crazy fog... that was hair raising but exhilirating. Since I've been travelling I have seen some fantastic things. When I lived in London, my favourite place was the Royal Opera House, and watching La Traviata on my birthday with some yummy champagne was wonderful... oops, that's more than one isn't it?

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to search for people in a burning building, how to structure an essay, how to speed read 5 books in a week, how to create a stage set... lots of random stuff I suppose...
