About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm from Saigon, Vietnam

Spontaneous! I like to travel without plans. It's the best to meet and talk to locals when I'm traveling.

I went to the Netherlands to study some years ago and the decision has changed my life ever since.

I love mountains, I love beaches, I love the mother nature!

PHILOSOPHY

Breathing in, breathing out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Some friends of mine in Holland are couchsurfers. We planned a trip to Germany 3 years ago during Halloween but I couldn't make it! My friends had great experience with a nice host that winter and I heard great experiences from them. I had an account since then but didn't really make use of it. : D

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've had only a few. I met some nice and amazing friends from CS when I was living in Nepal. A very nice host from Granada, Spain. A host-turn-friend from Cologne, Germany.

Interests

Hiking - I love nature and I can stay away from modern life for weeks or months :)

Rock Climbing - I got addicted to this awesome sport when I was in South Carolina, US. I met many nice people through rock climbing and the sport itself teaches me a very important lesson: if you try hard enough, you can make it to the top! Never give up!

Reading - I used to get motion sickness if I read on any kinds of transport but somehow the sickness cured itself recently when I tried to read a whole book on a trip to Dalat, a famous highland city in Vietnam. Now time on buses, planes, or cars won't be wasted anymore :D

Riding scooter - only when I was in Vietnam - really fast in the evening in Saigon!

Photography - :)

Ukulele/Guitar - I can play some tunes and songs, and I write silly songs too! :)

Wandering in a strange city without a map : ). And of course, I don't remember how many times I've got lost thanks to my horrible sense of direction.

Swimming and enjoying beaches. I once swam in winter in Florida and it's a very memorable experience.

Reading books while lying on the rooftop of my house in Vietnam - shhh, it's my secret place, no one in my family is keen on the idea ^^

Playing with my dogs : D

Playing with kids

Cooking - I'm interested in trying new recipes. Since I became a vegetarian (and I'm almost a vegan now), I found more creative ways to cook and eat. And food has become something more than just to eat and digest! I enjoy cooking and eating :)

Meditation - focus on my breathing and live at the present

Music, Movies, and Books

Studio Ghibli anime's - my favorite is My neighbor's Totoro
Harry Potter (both books and movies, I prefer the books though!)
Monster Inc.
The secret life of Walter Mitty - I watched this movie in a cinema in Groningen on my friend's birthday and it makes the watching more memorable and special
Gravity
Sunny - I watched this Korean movies 3 times: alone, with my best friends in Holland, and with another good friend from America. It's a good movie to watch with your friends :D
Heavenly forest
Nodame Cantabile

Harry Potter
Sophie's world
Travel with Herodotus - a great book for travelers :D
Kira Kira
Istanbul - Orhan Pamuk
Thich Nhat Hanh
Manga's!!!

My preference for music has changed a lot through time and it will never stops changing I guess. I used to love new age, classical music, and instrumentals. Then I liked jazz and country. Then it was Jpop and Kpop. I spent a great deal of time listening to each genre and I think now I'm more open to music. I'm now listening to... nothing specifically. I enjoy the sounds of nature and silence :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On the last day of my 5-day hike through Pyrenees (Andorra-France section), I fell asleep for about 15 minutes in the middle of nowhere in the mountain and it's one of the happiest moments in my life. I could still clearly see the stunningly breathtakingly beautiful landscapes when I close my eyes to recall those days.

Stargazing in the McLeod Ganj with my Indian friends in the middle of nowhere. I was listening to their singing Hindi songs and I felt at peace.

Sleeping in a cave in Triund, Himachal Pradesh and waking up at 5 am to see the sunrise only to feel like I'm in the union with the universe

Listening to a friend playing guitar and chanting some yoga music by the sea in Phu Yen, Vietnam and gazing at the starry sky, feeling blessed and grateful for being alive :)
