About Me

I'm living in Hamburg, studying for a masters degree. I'm trying to get out and see Europe while I live here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm couchsurfing to meet locals and find out about the city they live in. Cities are always better when you can meet someone who knows which places have the best food, music, art, etc. I love to find out the stuff that never gets written in a guidebook or online, not everyone with a great opinion has a blog or writes travel reviews.

Interests

I'm interested in a lot of things. I studies politics at university and love to engage with others that have political viewpoints that differ from mine. I have played and coached football for 30 years. I watch massive amounts of documentaries on anything and everything. Reddit is often a place where I get to learn about things that I didn't already know about. I have a PADI license and hope to use it more often. Finally, I'm really interested in how renewable energy is gonna change the world we live in, during our lifetime.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge fan of reggae music, it's kind of the soundtrack inside my head but I listen to a pretty wide variety of music, as long as it's not too loud. As I said before, I watch all types of documentaries, all the time. Most of my favorite books are non-fiction but several fiction books that I hold dear are Catcher in the Rye, Siddhartha, 1984, Fahrenheit 451 and Slaughterhouse Five. I also grew up reading Tin Tin and Asterix, which I still really love to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

SCUBA diving.

Teach, Learn, Share

To me, eating with people I meet while traveling can be one of the most rewarding parts of a trip. I have an opinion that sharing food is how humans became human. It provides a space where you get to sit with and listen to what another person has to say. Sharing a meal allows people to let their guard down and be comfortable. A shared meal is a place to Learn, Share and Teach.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to talk to people. Having conversations about all sorts of things with all sorts of people really drives my desire to travel widely. I learn by speaking and listening, so engaging in those activities with as many people as possible is a life goal. I also can cook and love to do cooking prep while listening to music.
