ABOUT ME

Hello!

I'm Antara, 21, a foot shorter than most (literally, I'm a below knee amputee in my right leg, and also 4'11). I'm wacky, crazy, and I like to think I'm funny too. I just graduated and am taking some time off before I start working. I have friends from all walks of life, and from different countries, but am always looking to make more, hopefully through my own travels.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live - I think the solution to the world's problems lies in the sharing of experiences. Putting yourself in someone's shoes is an eye opener in many ways, and doing so makes you much less judgmental and the world a better place.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I just joined CS, but I think the best way of travelling is to immerse yourself in the local culture as far as possible, and the best way to do that is with staying with a local. By being a part of CS, I hope to share as much as I can with other members of the community. :)

Interests

Writing is my passion, but I also love music, movies, good food (which is, of course, accompanied by good alcohol and company!), books. I think it goes without saying that I love to travel as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Too many to name, but some that stand out are The Freedom Writers, Midnight in Paris, Pan's Labyrinth, Rang De Basanti, Dil Chahta Hai.
Music: I love Bollywood music to bits.
Books: the Harry Potter series, Nineteen Eighty Four, The Shadow Lines, and the standard stock of chick lit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This may seem prosaic, but I've seen many sunsets at Palolem beach in Goa that have taken my breath away.

I have been involved with many publications at different levels - apart from writing and editing, I have a lot of experience with Photoshop and Indesign (and a little with Premiere Pro). I speak English, Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, basic Spanish and very very very basic French.
