About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be me

ABOUT ME

Writing this part has always been tricky ! Suffice to say that I had a rather resplendent profile, complete with albums, friends and references by people I had hosted, earlier, which I chose to delete. The reason for that drastic move was that I felt like a stationary monolith stuck to my life and job while the whole world (atleast the cs world) seemed to be travelling unhindered all over mother earth !

And just when I had done that, I could hear my old and rusty anchors shift from their place too. Life opened up and I found myself setting up a fresh couchsurfing profile :)

I guess that story tells something about me, including the fact, that I love telling stories :) Especially the stories that I picked up during my travels. The rest about me is best discovered through conversations, city-walks, mountain treks, music, theatre and cinema, to all of which i am equally addicted.

PHILOSOPHY

There are many ways to the truth...and all of them are true.- Vivekananda

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love hosting...I guess I love that much more than being hosted :) That is the basic part of course. After that begins that, which all this is for...a grand sharing and understanding of diverse ways of being.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted quite a few times, the references for which were in my previous, now deleted, profile :) Will try to convince those wonderful souls to certify me again :)

Interests

A combination of soft and hard :) I love reading, sketching, pondering, poetry, theatre, acting, impersonating, playing music, cinema...and when I have done enough of that I love long distance running, some exhausting mountain trekking, iaido - a japanese martial art etc :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I have been playing the tabla (not professionally but with immense fondness for the pair ;), for quite some years. So I do love percussion music of all kinds. The range is massive and almost worrisome. I swith from Indian classical to Hip Hop to motion picture soundtracks to folk music from the Gangetic delta...guess there is great oneness in contradition.Books ... I love the grand and fabulous historical novels of the Japanese author Eiji Yoshikawa :) Musashi and Taiko especially. I like Bengali authors such as Sunil Ganguli, Tagore, Satyajit Ray...Premchand in hindi...and Oscar Wilde, Conan Doyle, Shakespeare when it comes to English. Movies...all of Kurosawa, Fred Zinnemann and Satyajit Ray

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing a huge cloud trapped between two mighty Himalayan peaks come straight towards me at Machhapuchhere Base Camp (4000 m) like a gigantic sail ship and then getting swallowed up by it :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a good story-teller, guide and conversationalist.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Nepal, Netherlands, Sweden, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
