ABOUT ME

Grew up in New Zealand, worked in bookshop, set up underground zine, helped build and set up a meditation retreat cente, moved to australia mid 70's, met current partner,ran a residential drug treatment farm, had 5 kids, moved to rural area where we built a house near a beautiful forest,established an organic farm, vegetables, berries, fruit,involved with many youth projects, gigs etc. travelled with kids who are now all adults and amazing people, my partner works at local steiner school, I work on the farm and travel as much as I can.

PHILOSOPHY

First thought, best thought. cant remember where I heard it, but the phrase " hasten to unknow " sums it up. and I think it is unwise to take oneself too seriously.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For long time we have hosted travelers on our farm through the WOOF scheme ( willing workers on organic farms) and really enjoyed this (mostly) also travelled europe using Servas (similar to couch surfing) where we met so many kind and fun families with whom we had much in common.

Interests

Growing things, movies, listening to music, being in the forest, being in and by the ocean, drinking wine, rugby, sitting around doing not much, travelling, good food and cooking,finding out about other cultures, painting and drawing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies, esp Italian and French films from 1970,s, Brunel, Visconti etc. and modern mexican films like Amores Perros and Babel. I also like Adam Sandler films for some reason.
Like most music from Opera to Sphongle. Especially like Flamenco, Dylan, Neutral Milk Hotel, Clash, Felice Bros.Radiohead.Islamic music.
My favourite book in A Fine Balance by Rohan Minstry. Just read Here on Earth by aussie environmentalist Tim Flannery, vital and beautiful book. Love poetry by Rumi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing a Volcano in Vanuatu during a (minor) eruption and walking across the blackened crater to look down into the vent.
