Overview
About Me
I am a lefty, super budget traveller, open source developer, and an entrepreneur. I hosted tons of people in Toronto but lost the Couchsurfing account, but I did find that a lot of the people on here are great people. Open source hardware development is one of my most important passions, being part of the community that is bringing to manufacturing, through things like milling and Open Source Ecology, a level of success of the sort seen in the software world. I don't always see couchsurfing app notifications so emailing me at Anthony. A. Douglas@Gmail. Com can be used to give me a heads up. I missed a couple surfers this summer by accident by not seeing their messages.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have had a lot of fun hosting and surfing in the past. Accommodations cost too much, and yet we find often ourselves with more than we need. I like helping people have cool adventures, and I like making friends and chilling with other cool people. I am paying forward the hospitality others gave me to some degree, too. Practicing altruism and encouraging others to - including by accepting hospitality - is one of the most valuable little hobbies one can have :)
Interests
- open source
- hiking,
Music, Movies, and Books
One of my favourite novels is Cory doctorow's Little brother. A lot of his works I found particularly interesting at the times, although that was a while ago. I read "what is your dangerous idea" recently, and that was pretty good.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to a place called open source ecology and volunteered for four months there, doing all kinds of awesome things, including designing a big shovel like implement for the tractor, that mixed dirt to make compressed earth bricks out of, then a house mostly out of those compressed earth blocks.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Tales of adventure and much lulz :)
