M O T T O :

Keep on being curious.
Never judge anybody - always try to understand.
Stay humble.

Q U O T E S :

"I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none." - William Shakespeare, in Macbeth.

" L'important n'est pas de convaincre mais de donner à réfléchir" / "What counts more is not to convince, but to give a sobering idea" - Bernard Werber

"Pas l'temps pour les regrets" - Lunatic

"the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" - it works really good on me at least.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've discovered CS through many blogs about travelling, but mostly with a book called "Le tour du Monde en stop" ("Hitchhiking around the world"). At first i was quite skeptical : how could a system like that work ? In a world where people tend to be scared of the unknown, is there really people with hospitality, willing to open their door and offer shelter to someone ?
So I decided to try it on my own, with 3 friends of mine. We tried CS first while we were in Togo and Benin. The verdict was unambiguous : people were very friendly, despite their wealth (Togo being the 21st poorest country in the world). So I've decided to carry on this chain of solidarity and accepting hosting people at my place, and still continue to use CS when I travel, as long as I can !
Moreover, I'm eager to find new ways of travelling, consumption and all that is relative to the "altermondialism movement", CS being a nice way to pursue this idea !

Music, Movies, and Books

Books :
My favorites :1984, Fahrenheit 451... dystopian books all over the place ! And The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho
Author : Quite fascinated by Albert Camus and his style, Philip K. Dick, Henry David Thoreau, Haruki Murakami.
I also read books that concerns Japan and its society ("Underground", "Tokyo Vice" ...), cooking books, science books... As long as it gets tickle's my curiosity, I'll read it until the very end - even if it looks crappy (e.g : I've been trapped by the "Twilight" novels of Stephenie Meyer). Other than novels, I read comics, BD (Belgium - or more generally "francophone" - comics) and most importantly : M A N G A !
Manga :Found of Eichiro Oda's One Piece, been following it since i'm 8 y-o, will keep following 'till I'm 88 if needed ! I've also dig classics such as Osamu Tezuka's work (Astro-boy of course). Except One Piece, here are my favorites, in order : 1 - GTO / 2 - Full Metal Alchemist / 3 - Death Note.

Music : Rap, Reggae, Rock, and even Classic... open to all kind of music, but mostly all that concerns the hip-hop culture, and all the music that has influenced it up to now - soul, funk, jazz...

Films : my all time favorite - V for Vendetta. Otherwise, I like to watch films that make you laugh, that make you think, cry, feel fear.. I've got the feeling that I have not watch enough of them to deliver a clear opinion of my taste.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did an internship in Togo, then travelled there and in Benin for 6 weeks - really an unbelievable experience. I won't tell much about what happened here 'cause it's quite difficult but it will be a pleasure to tell you more about it if we meet :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to cook.. a lot. Well in fact, I like to eat well, and threat myself with good meal. That is something that you can achieve by 3 ways : 1 - Living at your mother's place (at mine at least) 2 - Eat in a restaurant / 3 - Cook for yourself. As a broke student living in Paris, the only viable left option was the last one !
I like to make pastry (classic or fantasist, french or Indonesian... as long as it looks good on the picture or the recipe book, I will want it on my plate). I like to cook / feed myself with French cuisine, Indonesian, Italian (well Mediterranean would be more appropriate) Japanese cuisine (go beyond the "Sushi / Maki" combo - you won't be disappointed)... I won't hesitate on spending money on food, rather than clothing, booze or cigs, especially when travelling ! I've got many recipes to share, but I have even more to learn ! It would be a pleasure to learn new ways of cooking through CS, or try out recipes with you. I really think that "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" - whether it is for me, but also to get to know people, to thanks them, to share an experience with them... Through eating, I want to experience a new way of living. That is also why I study Agronomic : to change the way our food system work.

Furthermore, I like to speak different languages, learn new ones... I like to talk about books, films, series, traveling, experiences... Mostly everything, as long as it's something passionate, i'll be interested to hear more about it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm looking forward to have more than a "quick chat" with CS users, but to have intricate debates, deep and meaningful talks about everything. If this can be achieve around a good meal and a decent beer, I don't know what I need more ?
