Overview
About Me
Born outside of New York City. Raised around there and also in North Carolina. I've since embraced the Southern U.S. word "y'all." (Plural "you"). It's just so buttery.
Most recently, I've traveled around and studied Spanish in Guatemala over some summers. Jobz I've had over the years: teaching 11-year-olds, farming, restaurant server, community organizer, social worker in a health clinic, counselor in a program for kids who have been suspended from school.
This quote resonates with me and guides the work I do: "If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." - Aboriginal activists group, Queensland, 1970s.
Social justice and movement building at the forefront of my direction in life. I value my community and seek to cultivate genuine and full relationships with those around me. I certainly thrive on connecting with others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
New to the website, and friends have told me they had great experiences with it. I'll be in Morocco with my sweetie for the first week of June, and we are looking for places to stay for a night in Casablanca, Marrakech, and Fes. Would love to meet some Good People with a place to stay or even just to show us around and connect for part of a day.

Music, Movies, and Books
Really enjoying listening to Brides of Funkenstein right now.
Some authors I enjoy: Toni Morrison, Joe Sacco (war-journalist cartoonist), Milan Kundera (most of the time), Pablo Neruda and Audre Lorde poetry. Finished my first book in Spanish, a translation of The Alchemist. Currently reading The New Jim Crow... about mass incarceration in the U.S., particularly of Black men.
Recent Viewing: Volver. Want to watch more Almodóvar films.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Jumped out of an airplane... without a parachute. No, I had a parachute. Well, the person I was attached to had the parachute. So actually, I did jump out of an airplane without a parachute. Alright, I'm done
