About Me

I'm a geology graduate and outdoor enthusiast from New Zealand who enjoys a good adventure. I am easy going and I like to party. I discovered Couchsurfing a few years ago when I graduated from university and decided to do a bit of travelling. It has changed the way I travel, make new friends and generally see the world. So far it has proven to be an amazing tool in meeting some awesome people and opened up doors to some of the best experiences of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate as both a surfer and a host and I thoroughly enjoy doing both as you get to meet new people either way.

I surfed across Canada for three months in the summer of 2012 and Hawaii and the west coast of the U.S. in the spring of 2013. I returned to Canada, for a year long working holiday, where I did a bit more couchsurfing, made some new friends and had an amazing time exploring, slacklining, snowboarding and partying. A life changing experience!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed across Canada for three months in the Summer of 2012. I surfed couches in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec, Montreal, Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise and Kamloops. It was a total blast.

I couch surfed for three months in Hawaii and across the West Coast of the U.S. in the spring of 2013. I surfed couches in Honolulu, Fresno, Yosemite Village, Tahoe, San Fransisco, Berkley, Bozeman and Seattle and had a great time.

I look forward to more positive experiences on couches around the world and to host as many people as possible while I am back in New Zealand.

Interests

I like to spend my spare time in the great outdoors doing activities such as snowboarding, slacklining, hiking, longboarding and a bit of rock climbing and mountain biking . I also play hockey and tennis and I enjoy books, movies and computer games when the weather is unfavourable. I like to listen to rock and electronic music whenever possible and I enjoy a good beer with friends new and old.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

NZ University Snow Games - Snowboarding/skiing and partying for a week with my mates from the Otago University Snow Sports Club. Can't beat it. Easily the highlight of the school year for my last 4 years at Uni. Otago always ends up victorious which means a big celebration. This always ends in one hell of a great night. A good time and a few beers had by everyone.

3-months couchsurfing across Canada. A few adventures had, a few beers consumed and a lot of friends made. So good I decided to go back for a full year working holiday, which was an amazing life changing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

The main thing I can teach people comes from my studies in the field of geology and specifically geochemistry. In these studies I have learnt a lot about rocks, minerals and the Earth, how it was formed and the processes that are occurring on it in the present day.

I've done a wee bit of travelling and have a few good stories that might be worth sharing to anyone interested.

I can also teach a little bit of Japanese and have a wealth of useless general knowledge that sometimes even surprises myself. New Zealand drinking games are also a great thing to learn and do, just make sure you drink responsibly... yeah right.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer hosts some good conversation on just about any topic and have quite a few good stories worth telling. I can teach some geology and science to anyone who is interested in that kind of thing and I could help out with English and Japanese if anyone is keen to brush up on their language skills. I also try to help out around the house with whatever needs doing, cooking, cleaning, gardening, even renovations. Each experience is unique so you never know what you will end up doing.
