About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to rock out, learn new stuff, travel, and help other people.

ABOUT ME

I work in education and love the challenge and the fun of working in an elementary school. I am really into bikes, mostly bike touring (traveling long distances by bike) and mountain biking. I'm currently road tripping out to the Rockies and Pacific Northwest with my bikes in tow!

PHILOSOPHY

I just try to approach life with a level head and make decisions that don't step on other people's toes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first used CS as a host in Philadelphia, and as a way to connect with people when I was staying in Valparaiso, Chile. I've hosted surfers at my current place in Winooski, VT.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have found the site to be a unique and awesome way to meet people in unfamiliar places, also as a good way to earn "travel karma" by hosting travelers.
While I was in Chile I found a great friend through couch surfing and we traveled to Mexico together last year.

Interests

Bicycles, photography, books, punk, metal, folk, soul, R+B, and most other quality music, building things from scavenged wood, urban exploring, hiking, camp fires.

Music, Movies, and Books

Live music of most types gets me really happy and excited. Books by Kurt Vonnegut and anyone else who questions and ridicules the status quo are great. Bill Bryson and Oliver Sacks are favorites for non-fiction. 99% Invisible is a great podcast I can't get enough of.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode my bike from Vermont to Colorado alone, sleeping out every night, having no idea where I would be the next day. That was a great feeling of freedom, and I highly recommend it.
Being in Chile by myself for three months without knowing the language was really challenging and it taught me a LOT!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can fix bikes. I have a modest bike shop in my house. I love helping bike tourists so they can fix their own stuff!! I like geography a lot and often turn into a know-it-all/recommendation machine when visitors come to a place I know.

Countries I’ve Visited

Mexico, Papua New Guinea

Countries I’ve Lived In

Chile, United States
