About Me

It is always a bit hard to describe myself, without exaggerating my virtues and without minimizing my shortcomings.

But to tell it short, my life for the last 3 years has changed significantly due to some dramatic transformations in my homeland (Belarus) and in the whole region (Eastern Europe). I have been working in the field of urban planning, but a year ago I decided to modify slightly my professional track and now I am studying World Heritage Studies in Germany.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I didn't practice Couchsurfing a lot, but all my hosts who I met on the platform were very open and interesting people. Lukas in Dortmund, Anika in Cologne and Benji in Tartu were amazing hosts :) Usually, I prefer to stay with people who I meet at different events such as EASA (European Architects Students Assembly), for instance.

This time I am taking part in an internship in Puerto Rico and since my visa has a grace period, I want to travel a bit in the USA. Unfortunately, my internship allowance covers only flight costs and dorm accommodation during the internship, therefore I am honestly looking for some affordable ways to travel and stay in the US. It would be nice also to be hosted by a person who doesn't mind showing me around and sharing some hidden urban gems.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: all kind of social dramas, movies based on real historical background, good documentaries. But sometimes, of course, there is nothing better then just a comedy, even a stupid one :)
Music: depends on my mood and company. But in general I like Royksopp, Josef Salvat, Susanne Sundfor, ONUKA, Adele, Paloma Faith, Christine and the Queens, Shuma.... and many many others, not always remember their names.
Books: Ivan Melež "Ljudzi na balotse" (People on the Marsh), Uladzimir Karatkievič "King Stakh's Wild Hunt", "The Dark Castle Alshansky", Ivan Shamiakin "Atlanty i karyjatydy"(Telamones and Caryatides), Serca na daloni (The Heart on the Open Palm), Lev Tolstoy "Anna Karenina".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Biking through small lost villages and exploring almost forgotten ruins of churches and palaces in Belarus;
- Participated in 3 crazy EASAs (European Architects Students Assembly) in Slovenia, Bulgaria and Malta;
- Studied in Budapest as Erasmus student for one year - one of the best periods of my life! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can revise some sport ball dances movements in my head and we can dance all night long :) If you are curious about Belarusian folk traditions or anything related to its history, just ask me and I can tell a lot. And of course brief courses of Russian or even Belarusian languages. I always have several boxes with national desert -
sugarous cranberries - with me in my travelling bag, you can taste it as well :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Since I am a student in a student dorm, unfortunately, there is not so much space, but 1-2 nights are still possible. Cottbus is not a very popular city for tourists, but I can show you some beautiful and attractive locations in the city.
