About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore Asia!

ABOUT ME

Raised in Guatemala, lived as an adult in the USA, have sprinkled myself across countries and continents whenever I've been able, and am always looking to expand my own boundaries.

Exploring, adventurous, shy at first, but get me going and you won't hear the end of it. I'm always up for anything. Long aimless train trips? Visiting abandoned beaches? Learning new languages? Going boating, swimming, surfing (anything in the water, really), hiking, cycling? Cooking, photography, music, dancing? Count me in. Also, my friends keep telling me I think everything tastes good, but really, I'm just a born survivalist and optimizer (so no food goes to waste!) Classical music gets me inspired, electronica gets me wild, and learning new things makes me happy :D

PHILOSOPHY

Carry on! All you can do with Life is Live it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I signed up on CouchSurfing to find places to stay while I made my first trip around the world, back in 2009. And it turned out to be GREAT!! I was hosted by many different people in Europe and Asia, and all of them were awesome couch hosts and very cool people!

Then for a while I hosted as many people as I could when I lived in Pittsburgh. I met diverse and awesome people from all over and with all different goals and destinations - Germany, Russia, USA, California... CouchSurfing has been the best tool I've had to meet all kinds of cool people!

Now I'm launching myself on a new expedition to Asia, and I'm hoping to meet more awesome people, as a surfer again this time. More stories to come as they develop!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfing has always been a great experience for me. I've surfed and hosted dozens of times - in Europe, in the USA, in Asia, and I have yet to find an experience that was not memorable or even inspiring! And what I have to say is: bring on some more, CouchSurfers!

Interests

Music, computers, swimming, adventure races, bungee jumping, skydiving, running, photography, hiking, traveling, languages, music, clean energy production, trash reduction/elimination, learning. I'm actually really interested in learning new languages (new life goal!), so I'm looking to find a semi-steady place to live in a foreign country (with a foreign language), and learn the language upon necessity. Favorite candidates so far are Chinese and Korean.

And as special bonuses:
- Do you want to exchange languages? You have my attention.
- Do you like going on extended photography trips? Let's go places!
- Are you in the thrill-loving side (skydiving, wingsuit diving, orbital diving perhaps :P )?
- Do you LOVE electronica, especially along styles of Trance, Goa, Psy, or even Eurodance (just fast beats, really)? I KNOW we'll get along

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Books, off the top of my head: Nature, by Emerson. The Dialogues of Plato. Nineteen eighty four. The Four Agreements. The Prophet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living on a long, clear, soft-sandy, empty beach at the tip of Vancouver Island, B.C for a week.
Gazing at Crater Lake in Oregon - the view is EPIC.
Sharing a moment with 20-30 random people in Shangri-La, China, as we all pushed together to turn a 60-ton Giant Prayer Wheel.
Driving across the USA picking up people who needed a ride along the way, and getting to know their diversity of stories, from New York bums to a Russian activist.
Volunteering at an international effort school in Nicaragua for a few weeks, and helping to unlock the potential in some SMART children I met there.
Being trapped in Russia for a week and not being able to get out the border because my visa expired, and talking to everyone in sign language because I knew no Russian!
Living in a Walmart parking lot for five days.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Guatemala, United States
