About Me

Please read the "About" and "My Home" sections before sending a request.

My philosophy at the moment is all about trying new things and enjoying my time as much as possible.
My current life goals are:
- become a better motorcycle rider. I am doing an advanced riding course and I would like to become a "blood biker", once I get my certificate.
- improve my fridge magnets collection
- gardening
- learn some new programming skills useful for my career (Nodejs/React)

I'm in love with my motorbike. I use it to commute in London and I plan to one day travel to Scotland with it. UPDATE: well in the end, I did it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSbG0NOjAdM 10 days, 1900 miles. It was easier than I thought.
UPDATE: I also went to the north of Italy with it, in may 2019

London already gives me a lot of chances for making new experiences and new friends, but of course traveling is essential.
As a job, I do web development, since 2008. I have changed few companies, including a very big one in the travel sector, which I am not gonna name, but you can ask me about if you want.

I am from Puglia, which is in the south east of Italy. It is a very sunny, warm place in the summer, with a lot of good food. But London is a lot more fun and diverse, with more things to do.
I like animals, I only have one tortoise in Italy, which is actually older than me. I don't know how old it is.
But I have had many cats in the past, and one day I would like to try have a dog.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A pub near my house has this phrase written on the wall: "when was the last time you did something for the first time"
Couchsurfing is part of my plan to make new experiences, meet new people and make good friends. you can never have enough of those.

Interests

I am kind of a sporty person. I have always been going to the gym doing weights. Some years ago I have stopped that and switched to yoga, which right now I am enjoying more.
Modesty apart, I am also a good cook. I have been told that by many people, I am not bragging :-) I can cook many italian recipes, even some which are not very well known outside of italy.
I have travelled a bit in Europe but there is plenty more to explore. In the next few years I want to see more of East Europe. Warsaw is the farthest east I have been. It was amazing though.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like hard rock and old school heavy metal music.
My favourite bands are Black Sabbath, Deep purple, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Hendrix, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin.
I can also play the guitar a little bit but I am not an expert musician at all.

Recently I have been reading a lot of books by Moravia, who is a great italian author. I do read books in english too, even if recently I have been reading more italian stuff.

My favourite movies are The godfather trilogy (especially the part 2), Barry Lyndon, Once upon a time in America, La Capagira, Trainspotting... There are so many. I really love good movies. Many people say I have a bit too sophisticated movie tastes though.

It has happened on more than one occasion that i have hosted people who had never seen Trainspotting, or even even herd of this movie. Please, if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour and watch it (preferably in english with english subtitles).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to London straight after graduating in Italy, and found a job in a web agency in weeks.
I built a website which is still used now days by the House of Lords.
I have seen my favorite band live, three times! (Black Sabbath).
I've taken part in the London Naked Bike Ride.
I've driven through California, south to north.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you an alternative way of cooking pasta, that nobody knows.
And how to use the london underground.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd like to make friends. Not just give a place to stay. I work during the day, but in the free time I can show a bit the nice parts I know of London. I know the city quite well now. I can also cook nice italian meals if you enjoy that.
If you are not scared, we might be able to go for a motorbike ride too.
I have been practicing TRE (stress and trauma release exercises) lately, and I can show you the technique if you want. They are easy exercises that will make your body shake and feel more relaxed.
