About Me

SHORT DESCRIPTION

A Kazakh, living in Riga. A husband, madly in love with my wife. An analyst, whose mission in profession is to provide knowledge to people in our ever-changing modern world, currently working in data analysis and data engineering field. A kaizen practicioner, a writer-in-progress.

HOW I APPROACH TRAVELLING

Travelling is one of the most fulfilling experiences, and meeting new people is crucial part of it. Visiting new places is one thing, trying to live in different culture, with people speaking different language is another. Both could be great. This is the reason, me and my wife are trying to travel systematically and right now are living outside of our home country. And yes, I write "travelling" with two "l" in it :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hosted people, when I was living in Almaty and had great experiences, meeting people, who stopped at my place. I have never tried couchsurfing while travelling, though, but hope to change this soon.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

I cannot explain what type of music I enjoy. There is no certain genre, no certain blueprint. The melody is either touches my soul or it is not.

Some of my favorites: The Beatles, Ennio Morricone, James Horner, Michael Bubble, Adele, Coldplay

BOOKS

I like American literature of early XX century a lot. In the childhood, enjoyed science fiction and fantasy novels, but I almost forgot when was the last time I read something of such genre. My five favorite books are:

1. The Path of Abai by Mukhtar Auezov
2. Fiesta by Ernest Hemingway
3. Alesha Gorshok by Leo Tolstoy
4. Book of words by Abai
5. The Dark Tower by Stephen King

MOVIES

With the movies I can definetely say: The genre does not matter, it is the story, which matters most.

One of the favorites: Seven Samurai, Princess Mononoke, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Howl's Castle, 3:10 to Yuma, The Grand Budapest Hotel, La La Land, Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Spotlight, Seven, Inside Out, Inside Llewyn Davis, Rush

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Run a marathon in Almaty, Kazakhstan

Climbed a 4000 m mountain
