Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn to attain freedom from the conditioning that limits our perception
ABOUT ME
Polite, outgoing, eclectic, random, passionate, energetic... (I don't drink much, don't smoke and I'm semi vegetarian)
PHILOSOPHY
Spread the love! I don't really have an overarching personal philosophy. Of late I have been draw to Buddhism and am learning about it still - but it seems very logical, simple, beautiful and wonderful to me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had two couchsurfing experiences - people staying at my house - and they were both excellent, and I look forward to more soon.
Interests
Languages, history, archeology, politics. I sing in a chamber choir, I've been in a couple of minor operas, and I play the piano (not very well though!). I'm not really sporty but I enjoy yoga, cycling, walks... I recently tried surfing and loved it! I am very into learning about Buddhism and meditation too - although an absolute beginner!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: LOTR, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Miyazaki, Almodovar. I love a seeing a wide range of international cinema and expanding my horizons. My favourite (Hollywood) actresses are Cate Blanchett and Julianne Moore.
Music: Tori Amos, Bjork, RnB, Beethoven, Missy Elliot, Le Tigre, renaissance and early music (Tallis, Palestrina), flamenco...
Books: The Aeneid (studied it in Latin - such a geek!), Lord of the Rings, the Silmarillion, anything by Margaret Atwood, Witi Ihimaera (NZ author), Patricia Grace (NZ author), love Anne Rice's trashy vampire novels too!!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmmm... I haven't really travelled much at this stage. The two most amazing things I've ever seen so far would have to be (1) Gaudi's Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona, Spain (totally awing - the most beautiful human work I've seen in my life - I'm not religious but it made me feel so moved and want to cry - I loved the sculptures narrating the Passion of the Christ on one of the outside facades) and also in Spain (2) Granada in Andalucia, just such an amazingly beautiful, inspiring, stirring, vibrant place with an amazing heritage and wonderful mix of cultures, gorgeous architectural and artistic treasures!
