I'm newly-returned to the bosom of Austin after adventures in San Antonio, Switzerland, and Oberlin, Ohio. I'm a classical musician by vocation/avocation and also love to learn languages- working on German lately.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was visiting Kyoto, when I asked a woman for directions and she ended up inviting me to stay with her children and grandchildren for 2 days, driving me all around Kyoto and the area.
Surfed in New York, Ohio, Louisville, Little Rock, Nashville, and more. Hosted wonderful people from Belgium, Austin, and more (mostly through my old roomie TumbleweedTim)
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Eric Whitacre, Morten Lauridsen, Stephen Paulus, John Rutter, Rush, Journey, more jazz and blues lately, but mostly I'm a choir geek.
Books: The Dispossessed (a wonderful book about a communist society). Grendel, just 'cause it's nice to get different perspectives. (also check out Bagby Beowulf on youtube)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I visited two of the three fabled "Most Beautiful Places in Japan." And drank from four of the "100 Most Delicious Springs"
I visited a teeny island SW of Okinawa, east of Taiwan. Very peaceful.
Taking an elevator up to the top of Mont Blanc.
