About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to find the next challenge

ABOUT ME

Every personality test I've ever taken claims that I should be locked away from people and rather work with numbers and facts. I'm constantly trying to fight this! Crowded flat parties are not really for me, but I do enjoy meeting all the people in the world in smaller increments, whether by hitchhiking or hosting or having a challenging job..
I grew up in Estonia (read: Eastern-Europe) so I don't like wasting stuff - like food or money or time or words :) I get a bit bored in discussions that don't have any meaning. I love making plans, I love progress, I love learning something new from every encounter and finding something positive about everything that happens to me. I love the sense of accomplishment that I get when I do something that seemed hard or even impossible at first sight. I can't get going-with-the-flow-lying-on-a-park bench-wasting-the-day attitude, but I do understand that everyone has a different approach to life and am really good at not judging people.
I value intelligence, honesty, enthusiasm and people who know where they're going. I get excited about making plans and analysing everything around me. I like laughing at silly things that no-one else understands. I love to smile and be happy in every situation. I believe everything can be done with the right attitude, and that you always get what you expect. I don't take life too seriously and am always willing to challenge the social norms :P
I am easy to get along with, but hard to get to know.

PHILOSOPHY

Intelligence is like four-wheel drive. It allows you to get stuck in more remote places.Life is not about what happens to you, but how you react to it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've sort of moved on from organised surfing to relying on random acts of kindness from people who I meet on the road, people who pick me up hitchhiking or who I meet in the town square.Similarily, I am always willing, if possible, to offer a couch to friends, friends of friends or friends of friends of friends, or to a random traveller with a big backpack looking lost in the city centre...

Music, Movies, and Books

I never watch TV.
I sight-read Bach quite well and enjoy books on psychology and economics.
If I hear another Rihanna (or similar) song ever again I think I'll explode :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years back I spent a summer in the USA knocking on doors selling educational stuff for kids. Met a wide spectrum of people from the kind that point a gun at you to the ones that pack you a dinner for the road.

Other than that, all the days and nights and 50000+ km I've spent on the road hitch-hiking, trying to get acquainted to the rest of the folk in the world :) Hitchhiked everything from Scotland to Istanbul to Nordkapp to Spain... Hitchhiked with a bike, with a huge fluffy teddy tiger, with some hairy French hippies. Hitchhiked an ambulance, a police car, a taxi, a fire truck.. Clearly my favourite means of transport!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge about hitch-hiking and baking cakes.. or about how to knit a jumper, memorize things (numbers, names, shopping lists etc) or do mental arithmetic. I am also happy to share some drinks over a game of chess, or show you the basics of piano-playing. I also know a few other things.. :P
I'd love to meet someone with enough patience to help me with my diminishing ability to speak French and Russian! Or show me juggling, riding on an unicycle or how to worry less. Or whatever your speciality is :)
