Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. But, if you plan too much, there no beauty in your journey and you gonna miss a lot of it"

I been on pack trip (plan too much) and go-easy trip (just simple plan). Interestingly, both are on the same trip and it show me how I should travel differently, which turn out become the main reason why I should do more on CS: Stay with Locals, Learn like Locals, Share the Journey with Locals and Be a Locals.

I still remember in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam (Saigon). When I met a local through CS, we just decide to spend few hours sightseeing in city. Turn out, we travel together with more local friends by motorbike for a few days and I got the opportunity to watch local's wedding and explore the place that never been in my plan (a lot of amazing locals spot) or hear about it before.

From that moment, I realised there a lot of thing that I can learn by travelling and staying with them. Its not about free accommodation or couch for a few days, but the journey itself. The memories you created with them, the experience you share with them, the traveller relationship around the globe, these are few worthy example that you can't just get by stay at the hostel or pack-and-go trip.

This become my principle why I'm on Couchsurfing.

That being said, let me share with you the beauty of my country, MALAYSIA 🇲🇾.
Find the true locals shop, explore the hidden spots, eat the ways we eat and learn our culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hosting travellers in Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur even just for a couple hours.
Bring them to try the locals food (nasi ganja), really famous in Ipoh and short sightseeing in capital city Kuala Lumpur.

And for myself:
Driving for route trip in Southern Scenic Route (NZ) for 2 weeks. Explore and wonder without any plan. Meet a bunch of traveller with the same passion of hiking and photography. Sleep in car almost every days and having shower in lake. Non stop day hike straight for 6 days. Offering a ride to hitchhiker and become hike partner for crazy plan of camping on Isthmus Peak,Wanaka.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm on a quest to make the perfect coffee (OK!, i'm kidding), but I can teach you how I try to make the perfect coffee.

I could teach you how to count in Malay (and it also useful in Indonesia as well) and speak basic Malay. And I'm really enthusiastic about photography and hiking, of course I'm really happy so share my passion with you.

Most importantly, whenever I travel. I will try to bring a few food from my country that should be try by you as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Knowledge such as hidden spots, where you should go and do for certain activities in my country. Teach you our basic language and how to speak it. Bring you to my favourite spot for view or eat place (stall and street food).

Or just sharing our experiences and changing opinions about travelling and culture.

OR just have a sip of kopi (coffee) and teh tarik (milk tea).

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, New Zealand, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
