About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Expanding my inner global empire

ABOUT ME

I love the pursuit of knowledge, and this definitely includes meeting new people. I have a degree in history and can sometimes talk a little obsessively about history, but I think it makes me a pretty good tour guide. I've lived in Chicago my whole life, aside from college, so I know my way around pretty well. As well as being a travel junkie, I'm also fascinated by movies and restaurants, and love trying any kind of food, and sharing whatever my currents favorites are with others. I'm not a crazy partier, but I love to go out and have a nice cocktail, especially when the weather is good, and the people are friendly.

PHILOSOPHY

Striking up unexpected friendships is the spark that gives life a glow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Quite a bit of hosting, and I surfed for the first time in San Juan, Puerto Rico! I also tell as many people as I can about how amazing couchsurfing is!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A lot of hosting of several wonderful people from all over the world. I also surfed once with the lovely Amy and Spencer in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Couchsurfing has been a great addition to my life, and allowed me to meet so many great people!

Interests

Dining, movies, historical fiction, TRAVEL!, food history, anthropology, politics, meeting new people, anything that has to do with Ricky Gervais, telling everyone how great Ethiopian food is, and the occasional great drinking night out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam with whale sharks in Mexico, and went parasailing in Tunisia. Sometimes I still don't really believe that I did it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Probably one of the most unique places to eat in Chicago is a restaurant in Hyde Park called Rajun Cajun. Though Rajun Cajun is a chain that normally does traditional southern American food, this particular branch is owned by a Bengali family who have started serving great Bengali food alongside fried chicken and macaroni and cheese! I think it makes a great little vignette of American life. The mango lassis are amazing!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Bermuda, Canada, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Tunisia, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
